This single-disc compilation brings those hits together in one place to span every phase of the foursome's highly influential career. Early Merseybeat-flavored sides like "Love Me Do" (the band's first Stateside hit), "She Loves You," and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" struck a chord early on with hordes of screaming teens. Unfortunately, this found the band temporarily dismissed as mere teen idols despite these numbers coming as a result of the vaunted Lennon/McCartney songwriting partnership. The timeless "Yesterday" struck a worldwide chord (and subsequently became one of the most played songs of all time) and Liverpool's favorite sons soon found themselves shifting gears. They were soon dabbling with flower power ("All You Need is Love"), character-driven storytelling ("Eleanor Rigby"), and allowing glimpses behind the Beatles curtain ("Hey Jude," "The Ballad of John & Yoko"). By the time "The Long and Winding Road" became the Beatles' chart-topping swan song, popular music's landscape had been permanently altered.

It's amazing... When you grow up in an era and take everything for granted; like most of us tend to do! I was quite young when The Beatles came to America--but I remember every note of every song they recorded! This CD resonates with the tunes they made famous--songs that I took for granted until I no longer heard them being played on the radio. Love me do... Yesterday... Eleanor Rigby... Penny Lane... Lady Madonna... This CD will have you rockin' out and reminiscing all in one breathe! And beautifully ended with The Long and Winding Road. It doesn't get any better than this!!!

Shorter version of Beatles 1962-66 & 1967-70

Created: 20/10/06
Heres the shorter version of the Beatles 1962-1966 and 1967-1970. Why? well it's one cd instead of four from the 1973 red and blue "greatest hits" packaged version. By combining the British and American No.1 best selling singles of the Beatles ( 20 best sellers in USA and 17 in Great Britain) thus the name NO.1 we have an excellent "greatest hits" album by the Beatles in a shorter version
In 1982, Capitol Records came out with a similar version called THE BEATLES'GREATEST: 20 Number One Hits that is now out of print and is a very sought after collectors item if you can find it.
This album is terrific and shows the pictured sleeves of all the rare Beatles singles in the booklet that comes in the cd. But unlike the Americans, the European's have also released this cd on a limited vinal with an enlarged version of the same booklet. So if you enjoy this great cd version of the Beatles greatest No.1 singles, then try and get the album vinal version as well for nostalgic purposes to enjoy view the enhanced version of this great Beatles cd and the booklet.
ALSO: this cd spent 5 weeks on the Bill Board Best Selling 200 Albums Chart in late 2000. Giving the Beatles their 19th best selling album which is another record the Beatles set and 1 just padded the record book as well. The closest competitor to the Beatles reign in that department are the Rolling Stones with 10 number one best selling albums. And that proves the Beatles are in a CLASS ALL THEIR OWN!!!!

The Best of The Beatles

Created: 03/06/08
Do you like music?...classic rock and roll?....music from the '60s and the '70s?...The Beatles?...the number one hits from The Beatles? If you answered yes to any of the above, then The Beatles 1 CD is for you.

All The Beatles number one hits are here on one CD. Rather you're old enough to remember when these songs first hit the airwaves or you are just now hearing them for the first time, the music of the boys from Liverpool, England is truely something special.

I was certainly sad when I realized my CD holder and 25 CDs had been stolen. So I rushed to Ebay to replace the CDs that I lost. You guessed it. The Beatles 1 was the first CD I wanted back in my collection.

Be sure to have all these wonderful old songs in your collection. They are truely timeless.

The Beatles 1

Created: 20/08/09
I bought The Beatles Album 1 as it had 27 hit songs on one CD. The CD evoked so many memories while growing up during the time period of "The Fab Four"
Twenty two of the initial songs were clear. Unfortunately, this particular disc was flawed and the last 5 songs skipped or were very scratchy. Had this particular disc been without flaw, I would have rated this album-The Beatles as excellent.
