Product Information
Capcom VS SNK 2 is composed almost entirely of classic Street Fighter and SNK fighting techniques, which means lots of charge moves, half and quarter circles, and super moves. What's new to the game are the different "grooves," or fighting styles. Although the "Capcom" and "SNK" grooves were introduced in a previous game, Capcom VS SNK 2 takes this concept a step further by introducing six different grooves: C, A, P, S, N, and K. Depending on which groove you choose, the type and number of fighting techniques you have available changes, with half of the grooves leaning towards traditional Capcom fighting and the other half leaning towards SNK-styled battle. The difference between the two fighting styles is mainly the availability of certain non-lethal moves such as air blocks, dodging, and rolling, with each groove having its own balanced mixture of the said moves.

Definitely an improvement.

CvS2 builds on its predecessor's questionable legacy with (by and large) better graphics, a larger roster, more options for fighting-style (aka "grooves"), and even the ability to customize a "groove" to your liking.

It brings out a few favourites who missed the boat in the first game - most notably for me Gôki, Haômaru, and Rock Howard - and, if you perform especially well during the tournament, has you fight Shin-Gôki or God Rugal as your final opponent. As in the original, each of them has two portraits, with the one actually used in the course of the game depending on which groove they're operating under - the more-cartoonish "CapCom-style" portrait or the more-realistic "SNK-style" portrait.

It still does suffer from a few of the original's limitations - mainly less-than-stellar animations, a distinct lack of interaction between the characters (SvC Chaos was great for that), and mildly-unforgiving controls - but as a pure fighter, while still inferior to the Marvel vs. CapCom series in my opinion, it's definitely worth a bit of ones time.

Capcom/SNK 2 EO

Created: 05/06/06
Like the first CvS, this game unites almost all of your favorite characters in a knock-down, drag out brawl. Play control is very similar to any of the Street Fighter games, but close enough to KoF 98 that SNK fans won't be put out.
The new EO system (using the second analog stick for specials)is hard to adapt to at first, but with a little practice, it can improve the way you play the game. It's just an option, so if you don't like it, you can select the more classic scheme.
I miss the more rendered look of CvS 1, but the addition of Dan to the Capcom side makes this a must-have for any serious gamer.

Best fighter out there

Created: 06/07/06
the 2d market is still the best out there. This game proves it. I Love SNK over capcom characters, but since both are in the game i can pick anyone i want to. Game is great, with balanced characters and still quite a few people play online in 2006. This just goes to show you that 2d fighters are better then 3d ones.
