Legacy of Kain: Defiance (Xbox, 2003)

I had heard some good things about the Legacy of Kain series and I was skeptical at first. But I started looking for it on ebay anyway. I just got the game today and sat down for ten minutes to try it out. I was laughing manically about three minutes in. This game is awesome! The gameplay is simple with slick controls and the graphics are just fine. The plot isn't half bad either. If you think sneaking around a big castle drinking people's blood and impaling them on pointy objects with telekinesis is fun, then this game is for you. Honestly, my inner psycho hasn't been happier.

The fifth in the Legacy of Kain series, LoK: Defiance follows the epic drama of three major races (vampire, human and Hylden) all in a passionate fight for control the world, each one pursuing their idea of the "true" prophecy. LOK: Defiance, however, finally gets the ball moving by resolving major questions from both Kain and Raziel. You will learn the relationships of Moebius, the Elder God, the Hylden and the Demon Beasts amd the laid out plain plans for everyone to see. Kain and Raziel both fulfill their destinies with exhilarating conflicts and resolutions.

The game is truly a joy to play the layout and stucture of the game is perfect. I love the challenge of figuring out where to go and what to do next. A wonderful puzzle and adventure game. The role reversal between Raziel and Kain was a real twist. To travel the boards as Kain then to Raziel and back to Kain again. The training of each character as new challenges are introduced is a gift from the gods combat training for Kain was the favorite part of the game for me. The levels seem to never end the graphics were phenominal and the level of excitement was intense to say the least. I simply could not walk away from this game. The archives of the preceding games the openings to each the endings for each and the scripts was a real treat also.

I have been a fan of the Legacy of Kain series for a while now. Unfortunately I have only been able to play the Soul Reaver games, until Defiance that is. This game is quite great. The graphics are, even in this new generation of consoles, very good. The gameplay is great, and the storyline is compelling. The only flaw is poor camera control.

Even though this game is somewhat old, it has stunning graphics that will please everyone who is a fan of the game series. High detail on every character makes for a great playing experience. I bought this game because I used to play the first one of these games, but I come to realize how much better this last game, Legacy of Kain: Defiance really is. You're going to love it.
