Fatal Frame 2, arguably the best, but definitely my fav
Created: 19/03/07
Fatal Frame (Project Zero) 2 is one of the best games I have ever played. It is an easy favorite for any gamer or horror fan. Fatal Frame 2 has the best control design and although the ghosts provide a challenging fight, you will easily be able to play without the instruction manual. It also has the best dub and wonderful graphics. The story and characters are so good that even a scardy-cat can enjoy this game. Main characters and the cute twins Mayu and Mio who get trapped in an ancient village stuck in the night of a deadly ceremony where twins go away together... but only one comes back! See if you can save the girls from the same horrible fate that the village suffers. This game always leaves me wanting to play it again immadiately, eventually you become a hardcore fan and start buying red butterfly stuff off of ebay to decorate, lol.
Keep in mind that the PS2 version and the XBOX version are different. There is little difference in the actual game play but if you plan to play many times (you probably will end up playing many times) and appreciate and like to look at special features you may want the XBOX "director's cut" version. The PS2 version includes 2 endings, promo trailer images, and some drawn images as well as 3 trailers and some special things for the twins. The XBOX version has 1 extra ending and many many extra features available after the game has been won.
Should definitely be purchased for your playing pleasure! I suppose it's fun alone, but it's also fun to play as a group and scare everyone! In-store prices (IF you can find it, very rare in actual stores) are at $15-30 used depending on condition. By rare I mean very rare, you MAY find 2 a year if you're actively looking.
General Info:
Fatal Frame games are horror/survival games with gruesome images. They should not be played by or in front of young children and are rated appropriately. This aside, they are not the gore filled games you usually find concerning horror. They truly do scare you in that traditional Japanese way that sneaks up on you slowly. They are worth playing even if you dislike the horror/survival genre because of the great characters and plot.

Better Graphics = Scarier Time

If you like survival horrors, this gives a whole new meaning to freaky. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one too. Great story with real life ghost incidents changed for game play. Even if you were not fortunate enough to get the first one, you should get this one. Imagine a spooky environment drawn to erie detail, sounds that chills you to the bone, and vibration from the controller. It'll have you spooked in no time.

I own all of the Fatal Frame games and this is my favorite of the 3! The story line in all of them just totally rocks, but this one is so twisted that it makes it that much better.
You play as Mio and Mayu, twin sisters that find "The Lost Village". They are stuck there with all of these creepy ghosts popping out around every corner.
It scared the total crap out of me the first time I played it, but it was totally worth it. You can play in different difficulty settings, giving different endings. I loved this game and have played it over and over and would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone that likes horror games!

My boyfriend and I played this when I went to see him over Christmas. I had never heard of any of these Fatal Frame games and usually I can take horror pretty well. This game was the first one I've played. It scared the living hell out of me. I was clinging to my boyfriend and I was so scared because the ghosts would just pop up. It's definitely terrifying and the story line is incredible. I'd play this game myself but I'm too much of a wuss! I highly recommend this game... it's amazing!

One of the Scariest Games EVER!

Crimson Butterfly is just one of the series of the famous horror game, Fatal Frame. This a story about a two sister, Mayu and Mio, who are twins. They were trapped in a deserted village. Soon, they find themselves in hell where ghosts roam around the village. It was said that the village was cursed, but the twins were separated. Determined Mio sets out to save her sister and escape from the village and its curse.
It's not your typical gun-killing Resident's Evil (Biohazard) but a camera shooting game where you take pictures of the viscious ghosts before they kill you.
What I really liked about this game is the story and its mystery. Unravelling such story and facing obstacles such as the ghosts haunting the village. Only your courage and determination is the key to save Mayu and finish the game!
I bought this game to add in into my collection. I finally got all the fatal frame series. hehe
Hope I shared enough about FF2:Crimson Butterfly. Play it if you dare and Oh yeah! Don't play this alone!
