) I am only a frugel collector. I just go for the first and sometimes the last years for American coins that interest me and the rest are vivid samples. I find it discouraging when one cannot see the real details of our historical money system so I will only buy the ones I want for my own personal agenda of seeing a coin the way it was origionaly intended.
I don't bother with one of each year then ones that have flaws then ones that have eash year of another type of coin series ETC.

I wanted to get a good Indian Head cent as a type coin, so I went for the better ones and with a little bit of rarity. I lean to certified coins in a strong way but lots of cents are not slabbed because of the cost vs. the worth of the cent. I thought the larger photographs would catch problems but that is not the case. There is always something to be missed.
I may yet get a good sample; a person has to pay for his lessons I guess. I have been very happy with larger silver and gold coins I have bought on eBay that are certified but this trip into pennies is not going as well.
I will also have to learn how to make good photos of the darker smaller cents. More difficult than silver. Lots to learn.

) NGC AU 58. Good value on purchase. Was 1866 in photo and I bought based on the photo. Was given 1866 which was better buy than 1859. The vendor kept their word!
