) Ah, the Morgan dollar, one of America's most loved and recognized coins. A great design and silver content of .77 oz in each coin makes them high in demand. True collector's search for choice uncirculated specimens and no honest numismatist will tell you they have never dreamed of owning a complete date and mint mark set. While 1883 saw high mintage numbers from the Philadelphia and New Orleans mints, lower mintages at the San Francisco and Carson City mints still puts those 2 Morgans on the "must have" list.

THE TERM "PQ STUNNER" AND "HIGH GRADE STUNNER" ARE OVER USED AND OVER RATED WHEN USED TO DESCRIBE COIN GRADE OR QUALITY. FOR THAT MATTER ANY TIME THE WORD "STUNNER" IS USED MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN EXTREME CAUTION AS TO ACTUAL QUALITY. A COIN I RECENTLY BOUGHT DESCRIBE AS SUCH WAS MORE LIKE "XF" AND INCORRECTLY CLEANED TO BOOT. PQ OR PREMIUM QUALITY IS DEFINED BY PCGS AS "BEST OF A PARTICULAR GRADE", DOES "MS" COME TO MIND. IF IT DOES YOU ARE WRONG. IT ACTUALLY MEANS THE COIN IN QUESTION IS THE "BEST EXAMPLE" OF THE GRADE IN WHICH IT BELONGS, BE IT "AU", "MS", OR EVEN "VG". NOT PLACING A GRADE IN THE DESCRIPTION, THE TERM "PQ STUNNER" IS AS VAGUE AS LOOKING FOR A NEEDLE IN A DENSE FOG WITH A FLASHLIGHT. SO IF YOUR EXPECTING AN "MS" UNCIRCULATED GEM, AS I WAS, BEWARE. AS FOR THE PICTURE, THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER STORY WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS.

It's a 1883 Morgan Silver Dollar!!!!The only thing you use it for is in collecting Morgan Silver Dollars!!!! It's a coin,you can't compare it to other products,only coins!!!!

Morgan Dollars are in strong demand. Any Carson City (CC) dollars are the one Mintmark that is most in demand. The 1883 Morgan dollar in any MS state should be a part of any Morgan dollar collection. Looking at the history of the 1883 CC Morgan dollar, I believe it is the number one CC most likely to increase in value over the next decade or two.
