1924, Peace Dollar

Peace dollars are much easier to complete an entire set than Morgan Dollars. For most people, a complete set of Morgans is impossible. Whereas, Peace Dollars can be obtained in some cases just above spot silver prices. Of course with any coins, the higher the quality the higher the price. Look for specimins that have a good strike by looking at the lettering on the reverse in particular. Try to find ones with few bag marks. This may be difficult as these coins are heavy. Most importantly, when considering the 1921 high relief and other rarities is to know your coin very well. Many counterfiets are out there and are very good. Some are even made of 90% silver. It is best to buy professionally graded (NGC, ANACS, or PCGS) rarites so you know they are real or buy raw (ungraded) ones from a reputable dealer. When considering graded (slabbed) coins also be familiar with the holder as these are also faked. The Chinese are notorious for copying everthing and their government allows this. However, don't let this scare you away from the fun and profitable hobby of coin collecting. Learn all you can and you won't go wrong. Be smart and buy smart.

As a coin collector of many years, Ive always had an affinity to these particular coins. I was very excited to add these two to my collection. I've purchased and sold many of these in the past, however, I am finding that as the years progress, these coins are becoming more and more scarce in such good condition as the two I just purchased. There is an incredible amount of American History behind these coins and I believe every household in America should have at least one in their heirloom collection of trinkets and what-nots.
Recently everyone is on the "Silver Hoarding" spree and it makes it very difficult for collectors of these coins to find them in a condition that is "keepable". I shutter to think how many of these coins are being melted as I write this review. It's history being turned into Cash. Do we not already have enough of it that we have to melt the history right out of our lives?

The pictures on Ebay look great, but when I got the coin, it was easy to see it had been cleaned. I have a microscope but did not actually need it. I kept the coin because it was beautiful and about half price. I think I got a good deal.

I am working on a full collection of this type of coin. This is a good series for the beginning collector because very good examples of all but 3 years can be obtained for less than 100.00 and the other years you can get an Almost Uncirculated for not more than 3-400 so if you save up and watch auctions you can complete the set. What I do is as I get new ones I compaire them to the ones I have and cull out the one that is of lesser quality. Make sure to get a copy of the red book to make sure the prices you are paying are reasonable.

This ENTIRE 'review' nonsense is getting quite tiresome. I absolutely detest having to write these silly worthless little snippets from time to time. I am busy running my business and I feel it would be time MUCH better spent for customers to address an ACTUAL BEEF with a product or service and not write this facebook crap on each and every trinket they purchase.
