I got this at a great price, but even if I hadn't I would have preferred this book over the Beckett yearly guide. The only clumsy part of this book is that the last 8 or 9 years come on a CD-ROM and looking things up on the CD is a bit slow. However, having said that, I will vouch for this book WAY over Beckett, in that Beckett only lists the most common cards. If you need prices on many inserts, forget Beckett. On the other hand, the SCD catalog seems to list everything. And unlike Beckett who seems to just randomly set their values, this guide seems to set their prices by doing actual research, using many sources.

2010 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards
Created: 27/07/10
First and most comprehensive large-format price guide. No other book or magazine can truly compare. Book has over 1700+ pages of cards and sets prices. That's over half a million cards!
This is the book to have if you are a baseball trading card collector or thinking of becoming one. It is a little tricky to navigate at the beginning but very well written and as soon as you figure it out, you will never use another book again.
This book does not give you prices for the different grading systems, only price for MT (new) cards only.
Previous books from the same series go back as far as 1867.

Everything you need...

The Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards is a must have for any sportscard collector. The book provides detailed information on over 15,000 sets, 1,000,000 cards and provides over 10,000 photos. Detailed write-ups for vintage, new, short-prints, etc., allow one to expand their knowledge of the hobby. Anyone who buys, sells, or trades baseball cards should own this book... You would be hard pressed to find a card not listed in this book. Price guides are unscientific indicators of the value of a card, but knowledge is power, and when trading, knowledge can mean everything. Pick this book up and research your hobby...
