Doom 64 One of the best N64 games. M- Mature Rated
Created: 07/09/07
DOOM 64
Ive played all the (official) Doom games & a few non official pc mods.
For "single player This is the Best Console Doom game" and heres why,
(1)The 30 levels are all exclusive. No rehash.
(2)All the monsters with the exception of the final boss are original Doom Monsters. A few are redrawn but with nice horrific Doom Quality.
(3)The guns with the exception of one "new gun" are remodelled versions of the classic Doom guns & look pretty stunning.
(4)They used prerendered & lighted sprites for the monsters, this makes them look as good or better than ever for 2D sprites.
(5)To make the levels this was the first use of what ended up being the N64 quake engine but the levels look much better than quake 64.
(6)This game runs the highest amount of enemies on the screen at once for a console Doom game.
Nice points,
You can save the game to a memory card or use codes to continue from where you left off.
You dont have to have the N64 expansion pak to play.
This is one of the few games N64 that had me disagreeing with the common saying "N64 is a little kids console" This game is not for little kids it is rated M - Mature for a good reason.
My numerical ratings 1-10 higher is better.
Game Play 9 the N64 controller is the weakest point of this game But you can set the configuration any way you prefer. This game runs Very smooth & fast!
Graphics 8 this game looks really good but still suffers a little from the N64 blur that was so common. This is a 10 year old game & still looks good. No N64 expansion pak needed.
Sound 10 as good as it gets on N64
Fun Factor 9.5 This can be a hard game but has several difficulty settings. If you like classic Doom this is fun & refreshing with the new levels!
If you like Doom or "busy FPS" games then Doom64 is a must play.
If your ideal of a great FPS consists of sneaking around & hiding behind boxes.. then go hide behind a box, this game may be too much for you.)
I rate this as one of if not the best N64 game.
Doom64 comes at you like a ton of bricks at times.
A "Mature rated" Monster blasting good time Doom64 was by far the most intense console FPS in its Day and still rivals all.
This is a low priced & under rated game.
Have a good day & have Fun.

this a a game i have been hunting down for years,i have always loved this game and most of the doom games as well.
this one is fun on the rom for your computers, but it is little less awkard with n64 controller, the game play is much harder then i thought, much more levels then doom 1 or 2. th addition of new guns i nice and its just a good game to have for your n64 collection.
now there are some bad things about this game, unlike doom 1 and 2 this game is dark.... like you cant see anything past your hands, so cheats are needed.
the boss is too hard unless you spent time looking for 3 relics.
there are not that many secret levels. witch is yes, sad.
but if your a true doom fan this game is fun, more hardcore then the first two games. and the controller is little awkward,
this game is sure to challenge you for some time, but then again you just may get mad at it and never play it again, yes i get boring once you die for the tewntey millionth time.

The smell of blood and howling demons.... DOOM 64!!!! This game is very great with good game play and levels. First off i'll start with the levels. The levels of DOOM 64 are very long. If you've played the original dooms (PC, SNES, Sega Genesis, ETC) you will notice that the demons look different than the other versions of DOOM. I think they look alot scarier and better looking. The next would be guns. The guns are alot better looking including better sounds. Now the game play itself. The game play is very good with good graphics and just overall very good looking. The only problem with this game is the controls. Sometimes I like to use the directional pad instead of joystick. That is an available option but the fire trigger is far away. You would have to play left handed which for a righty is pretty complicated. But like I said. Don't let that ruin it for you. Once you get used to the joystick you will feel very comfortable. So I give it an 1000000 stars out of 5 stars. I highly recommend it for any game collector.
I also recommend the original doom also. So that is my review and enjoy the game.

The most unique Doom game in the series
Created: 17/10/09
If you enjoyed Doom 1 and 2, this one takes it into a very dark direction. When I first played it as a kid, I thought it was just going to be Doom 1 on the N64, but little did I know that this was an all new Doom made just for the Nintendo 64. I felt really spoiled since all my friends had just ports of the first two games while I had an all new one. All the maps were new, there was a new laser weapon, all the graphics were revamped and MUCH nicer than the old Dos Dooms. The game atmosphere was much spookier, I remember this game giving me nightmares as I hadn't really played a game like it. The look of the game is more reminiscent of Quake than Doom, but everything still FEELS like Doom. The only thing I hated was the way the game saved. It saved to a controller pack, but it didn't save any weapons you had, and you start at the beginning of each level. If you die in the game, you lose ALL your weapons except your pistol and start at the beginning of the level. For people like me who play without cheats, this was frustrating. Still a great game, none like it. If you like Doom, you gotta check out the Nintendo 64 one!

Admittedly, if you've played one Doom game, you've pretty much played them all. But, there's no denying that this game has to be the best version of the series in a long, long time. Newer character models and the fact that the games' environments are in true 3-D now does alot for this game. Especially where the atmosphere is concerned. Even though it plays just like all the others and there is little new in way of guns and such; it is still an absolute blast to play. I heartily suggest that fans should give this one a try before digging your nails into Doom III, just to see how the series has evolved over the years.
