Movie synopsis

Danny Boyle (SHALLOW GRAVE, TRANSPOTTING) directs this post-apocalyptic thriller set in London after a deadly, Ebola-like virus has swept through the city. Jim (Cillian Murphy), a bicycle messenger who was in an accident just days before the outbreak, is one of very few survivors who awakes 28 days later to a city that has been evacuated and is now utterly lifeless. He wanders the vacant streets of London feeling as if he's trapped in a never-ending hallucination. However, upon entering a church that is littered with dead bodies, he discovers that he is not alone--"the infected" are still living. They are violently sick, fast-moving, bloodthirsty zombies who travel at night in ravenous packs. Jim manages to escape "the infected" and locate a band of survivors--Selena (Naomie Harris), Hannah (Megan Burns), and Frank (Brendan Gleeson)--and they join forces searching for solutions, clinging to hope that somewhere healthy humanity thrives.A gripping and suspenseful horror film with indie production values, shot on digital video, 28 DAYS LATER has a pleasing immediacy. Its actors are primarily young unknowns, its special effects consist of beautiful photography overlays and flashes of light with lots of shadow play, and its settings are rich and dramatic. The soundtrack is one of the film's truest strengths, with excellent music from Brian Eno, Blue States, Grandaddy, and Godspeed You Black Emperor guiding the action from the first minutes through to the last.

28 Days Later Is Fantastic!

Created: 03/01/09
I enjoyed greatly both 28 Weeks Later and the first one, 28 Days Later. Though not actual zombies many of us in the zombie genre enjoyed it. We call them the infected or sprinters. They are very similar to zombies, but they run. The dead are slow and typically called Shamblers. A great film and I'm happy to see it in any format.

Great horror film with a twist!

Created: 23/03/09
Twenty-eight Days Later is one of my favorite films. Even though I already had it on DVD I had to get another copy on Blu-ray.

If you're a fan of zombie films you'll probably like this, or you might not. See, the movie is not entirely about the zombies ("infected" in the film) and that could put off some traditionalists. That's what I like so much about the film though. Rather than being just about blood and guts there's a very good plot and underlying morals and values that you observe throughout character development. In the end the film makes a strong statement about humanity itself.

I definitely recommend checking out 28 Days Later, even if you're not a zombie/horror fan. It's a really well put together film, unlike it's sequel 28 Weeks Later ended up turning into a Resident Evil clone.

Awesome 10 out of 10 film surprisingly good.

Created: 04/05/11
I bought this product for my son who had been asking for a while to buy it for him on blu ray originally I bought it for him on DVD over three years ago but it disappeared so had to buy it again. I liked this film because it portrays an apocalyptic world in a non cliche non typical manner as shown in many modern horror films. This product was awesome the sequel wasn't as good, but was worth watching so overall 5/5 stars and a higly reccomendable film.

Worst transfer ever but not really Fox's fault

Created: 17/07/09
First for the record it was a really great creepy film made on a small budget that would make George Romero himself smile. However the transfer is a different story. It is pretty much the worst you will see on Blu-ray. The transfer is MPEG-4 AVC encoded which should make it perfect. However because of the way it was filmed it was only meant to be displayed at 480p. The transfer itself has been upconverted to 1080p by fox and it was also made to look grainy and soft on purpose by Danny Boyle. So what you get is well.......blurry. However this is the best it is going to look so if you into the film this is your best bet. The sound however is fantastic. With this disc you get a DTS-HDMA soundtrack which is loud and aggressive.
