Movie synopsis
Art imitates life in this smart comedy starring SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE alums Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, and frequent host Alec Baldwin. In addition to writing and executive producing 30 ROCK, Fey plays Liz Lemon, the head writer on a variety series called "The Girlie Show." But the new Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming, Jack Donaghy (Baldwin), decides to shake up the show, adding crazy actor Tracy Jordan (Morgan) to the cast and changing the name. A critical hit, 30 ROCK garnered a Golden Globe win for Baldwin and Emmy nods in its freshman season for its brand of comedy that ably straddles intelligence and silliness. This single-camera sitcom also features Jane Krakowski (ALLY MCBEAL), Scott Adsit (KICKING AND SCREAMING), and Judah Friedlander. But with such a deep bench of talent, the show's secret weapon is Kenneth, played by Jack McBrayer (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT), whose naiveté is a hilarious contrast to the rest of the characters. This release features the first season in its entirety, including episode commentary from Fey.

Tracey and Alec rock the show!

) After seeing a couple episodes of 30 Rock on NBC, I decided to buy the first season of 30 rock. I used to be a huge fan of Saturday Night Live. 30 Rock features many actors that worked for SNL or made guest appearances. The show is mostly focused on Tina Fey and her daily struggle to manage the cast, set people, and writers of a skit-based TV show. Alec Baldwin plays the role of NBC executive and boss to Tiny fey. He is arguably the funniest Character with at least a dozen one liners per episode. Tracy Morgan plays the big shot actor and is often seen acting outrageous or idiotic, which is most of the time is very funny. Overall the show is great and I highly recommend the purchase.

You have no idea how much I love this show. I never watched it on television, but I found this cheap on ebay and thought I'd try it. I watched the whole first disc the first night I got it. WOW!
This show is perfect. Forget THE OFFICE or any other show about office life. There is no other boss like Jack (Alec Baldwin). Alec Baldwin steals the show, and that is a tough job when you're co-starring along side Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey. From demonstrating his new oven that can cook turkey in three ways and trying to apply that 3 heat method to his staff to dating Condi Rice, I've never seen a comedic figure quite like Alec Baldwin in this show.
If you're a regular FRIENDS viewer, you might remember his cameo as Phoebe's boyfriend. There, we caught a glimpse of Alec's comic brilliance!
Don't think about it....just buy this show! You'll be very happy you did!

Raising the bar for TV comedy

) This shows how good TV comedy can be. Like "Arrested Development" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm", and unlike just about every other show which is filmed before a live studio audience, there is the hand-held camera which goes everywhere with no audience laughter, which is much more life like. The writing is razor-sharp, with sparkling, witty dialogue aimed at an intelligent audience. Tina Fey, like Larry David, is more of a humorist, like Mark Twain, than a stand up comic with a TV show. I laugh every time I watch this because this is real art, just as I always enjoy listening to Mozart, or looking at a Monet painting. Real humor is durable, unlike jokes. There are very few sitcoms that can be viewed more than twice without becoming torture. This is one of them.
30 Jokes Come Too Fast for TV

I discovered 30 Rock in its 4th season. At first, I was disappointed I had missed years of hilarity and that I would have to buy the DVDs of the first 3 seasons. But having watched one episode after another with out commercial breaks on the DVDs, I like the show even more. Also, the jokes come so fast and furiously at times, it's great to be able to stop and play back parts you might have laughed over. Tina Fey is a genius. Tracy Morgan, Alec Baldwin and Jane Krakowski are also outstanding. But it is the writing that makes this show the best one on TV. Season one was great at filling in the back story of the characters for those of us who may have missed that info when it first came out. I recommend this show very highly.

This is a great season! A classic for any fans of Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, and Tracy Jordan, including the rest of the all-star cast. Highly recommended! Amazing humor and smart writing make 30 Rock one of the best TV shows out right now.
