Movie synopsis

Loosely based on a story by cyber-pioneer William Gibson, this futuristic thriller centers on a the title character (Keanu Reeves), a courier who loads vital data straight into his brain for storage and safe transport. Johnny has given up brainspace that his childhood memories occupied in order to save space for his chosen profession. He wants to pull one last job before he retires, and the one he gets is particularly perilous. He's got 48 hours to transport a large load of data from Beijing to Newark--and some futuristic samurai don't want him to make it to his destination! The directorial debut of conceptual artist Robert Longo is full of arresting visuals painting a bleak, yet eye-popping, vision of the future.

Johnny AMAZING!!!

i don't even know where to begin. this film is just awesome. if you're a Sci-Fi junkie like i am, you will just eat this movie up. great special effects for it's time, great acting, intriguing storyline and Keanu Reeves does a great job at Johnny. also starring Ice-T and Henry Rollins (Black Flag), this movie just grabs you right from the very beginning, pulls you in and never lets up, until the end. loosely based on a short story by William Gibson (Neuromancer) this film is a true vision of the future! i know i lot of people will probably disagree with me, but, in my opinion, this film is what "Blade Runner" SHOULD have been! this is definitely not only one to rent, but is also an absolute must for any Sci-Fi/Action junkie's collection! check it out! 5/5 stars!

Johnny Mnemonic

Created: 13/04/08
Pros: Keanu Reeves did a great job. Great story line and lots of action.

Cons: I thought that some of the acting could have been a bit better.

I must admit tho that I never read the book. So I do not know how the movie compares to the book.

Our family owned this movie in vhs and decided it was time to upgrade all the movies we really enjoyed watching over and over. Johnny Mnemonic was on the top of that list. If you enjoy watching science fiction movies this is a must see.

Johnny Mnemonic

Hi Everyone,

Johnny Mnemonic, now here is a movie made (before it's time) when it was released .. back in the day .. it was looked upon as just another Sci Fi movie WRONG .. If it was released today, I personally think it would be a Best Seller.
The plot is well thought out & though fiction (at the moment) thats not to say it might not be fact tomorrow, or a month or year from tomorrow .. There's a lot I cld say about this movie but to sum it all up in a few words .. BUY IT .. you won't be disappointed.

Cheers all.

Fun film!

William Gibson, Keanu Reeves, and Ice-T together at last - what more coould a moviegoer want?

In spite of a bit of an overriding 90s feel, this movie is still worth a look if you're a Gibson, or just like cool sci-fi films. The 'phone call' scene is a fun look at future technology and what might happen to the internet if Hollywood had it's way.

Check it out!
