The group was formed by Patrick Andrew (singer/bassist formerly of Grammy-nominated Sparrow recording artists PFR), who recruited solo singer/guitarist Greg Pope into the project. The pair was quickly signed to Questar/Mission Records after filling out the Eager lineup with Mark Kloos (guitars) and Paul Eckberg on drums. Once everything was in order, this 11-song offering hit record-store shelves in August 1997. Pope and Andrew share vocal and songwriting credits on the record. Both songwriters employ modern rock melodies and lyrical images along with grainy guitar riffs to create a pallid brand of Christian alternative. While faceless and perhaps even boring to some, this formula served '90s artists like PFR quite well as record sales and concert venues swelled over their career, and to their credit, Eager is about as good as PFR or anyone else at dispensing this music. Pope and Andrew write songs that are easy on the ears if not exactly moving or creative, and this one-off release from Eager can be recommended only to the most passionate Pope and PFR fans. ~ Vincent Jeffries
