    Album Notes
Recorded at Goodandevil Studios, Brooklyn, New York. We's sophomore release gets with the drum-and-bass program in an even sexier way than their innovative debut AS IS. DJ Olive, Lloop, and Once 11 manage to imbue as much mystery and sonic mustard to their rhythmic onslaughts as their mysterious monikers. THE SQUARE ROOT OF NEGATIVE ONE still sits squarely in the illbient scene We is a part of, but largely forsakes the dub ethics of their debut for more junglist realms.Yet sinister forces prevail: the foggy "Ririka" uses African basslines, and sharp, straight drumbeats that snap like bugs caught in fluorescent lightstorms, as ghost noises chime around the snare pops and echoed percussion. "Diablos" is just good, fierce drum-and-bass, its basses distorted and angry, its synths sneering at the gods. We know how to let a groove writhe and grow, milking the sticky atmospheres with which they surround their rhythms. These are sounds that aggressively rip themselves out of the urban gestalt and into our shared consciousness.

    Editorial Reviews
...A sort of rhythmic and textural funhouse, with awkward, rubbery sonic blurbs haunting each twisted and angular percussive phrase...
