Album Notes
Includes material from Seinfeld's HBO special of the same name.Solo performer: Jerry Seinfeld (spoken vocals).Recorded at The Broadhurst Theater, New York, New York on August 6-9, 1998. Includes liner notes by Jerry Sienfeld.I'M TELLING YOU FOR THE LAST TIME was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Spoken Comedy Album.Audio Mixers: Tom Lewis; Jerry Seinfeld; Rob Jacobs.Liner Note Author: Jerry Seinfeld.Recording information: Broadhurst Theater (08/06/1998-08/09/1998).Editors: Tom Lewis; Jerry Seinfeld; Rob Jacobs.Photographers: Annie Liebovitz; Edie Baskin.Unknown Contributor Role: Leon Zervos.By August of 1998, when this concert was recorded for broadcast on HBO, Seinfeld had rung down the curtain on the most popular sitcom of the decade and earned enough money to buy Jason Alexander a different toupee for every day of his life. As I'M TELLING YOU makes clear, no matter how big a pop culture icon he'd become, Seinfeld's roots are in standup comedy, and he still knows how to make a live audience bust a collective gut. His natty, neurotic urban Jewish shtick is far from new, dating back at least as far as the Catskills comics of the '50s, but Seinfeld puts a decidedly '90s twist on his humor. Tackling everything from the female orgasm to the medical profession, Seinfeld puts contemporary society on a satirical skewer, enabling listeners to simultaneously identify with him and laugh at themselves.

Editorial Reviews
...On its own, the CD is a more than respectable stand-up disc; Seinfeld's riffs on airplane bathrooms, Halloween masks, pharmacists, and supermarkets...are worthy of preservation...

GREAT OBSERVATIONAL COMEDY! Stand-Up About Something.

Created: 22/01/08
Jerry Seinfeld's comedy album I'm Telling You for the Last Time lives up to its billing as a 1999 Grammy nominee. Listening to Seinfeld's routines reminds listeners that long before his hit television show, he was a great stand-up comedian. His "natty, neurotic urban observations" remind the listener of the Catskills comics, but with a "1990s twist."

Seinfeld's material covers a wide range of subject matter from female orgasm to the medical profession to grocery stores, putting a tight, satirical spin on the American culture. Most listeners will find it easy to identify with his humor, laughing at themselves as much as the material he performs.

According to Seinfeld, I'm Telling You for the Last Time was intended to put his old stand-up routines to rest. I, for one, hope that, from time to time, he performs the miracle of resurrecting some of these bits for his fans. There is some language throughout the CD. But if you are a young stand-up comedian, trying to learn the art of putting together material, or a comedy fan who enjoys fairly clean comedy routines, you won't go wrong buying this CD.

This is all of Jerry's old stuff, for the last time, I guess. It is pretty funny, but (obviously) didn't feel new- and he swears more than I like to hear. I prefer comedy I can play for my kids.

Jerry Seinfeld...it shouldn't be "the last time"

Totally funny. Seinfeld's comedy is really timeless. I only wish the CD were longer. I wish that he'd come out with more of his stuff on CD. DVDs don't travel well when trying to concentrate on the road.

a hysterical CD

Perhaps some of Seinfeld's finest comedy. There isn't an unfunny routine on the entire recording. It's honest, truthful and just plain funny. Oh, and pretty clean. You can listen to it with your kids, but it's not written FOR kids. Just hysterical!
