Movie synopsis

The story of a rock musician's struggle and eventual rise to stardom. Ringo Starr and Keith Moon add musical authenticity to this nostalgic look at the rock scene of the late 1950's. A drama of candid, gritty realism, THAT'LL BE THE DAY is supposedly based on John Lennon's early years.

That'll be the Day

Created: 10/10/06
Excellent story of the late fifties British music scene set in the years just prior to the rise of the Beatles. Good acting job by David Essex and in particular, Ringo Starr as his friend, Mike. The late Who drummer Keith Moon, also makes a cameo appearance. This movie is the prequel to "Stardust", also starring David Essex. All-in-all, a great movie for anyone interested in the evolution of British rock.

Kitchen sink rock & roll

Created: 06/11/06
I loved this movie. It is not the slick, polished nostalgic crap that Hollywood loves to pump out. It is a gritty realistic tale of a boy who is kicking at authority and looking for a way out. Not only is David Essex absolutely gorgeous, he is a convincing actor. Stardust is just as brilliant. These movies are not depressing, they're realistic, and that can be a shock when we're so used to Cinderella style drama.
