That'll be the Day

Excellent story of the late fifties British music scene set in the years just prior to the rise of the Beatles. Good acting job by David Essex and in particular, Ringo Starr as his friend, Mike. The late Who drummer Keith Moon, also makes a cameo appearance. This movie is the prequel to "Stardust", also starring David Essex. All-in-all, a great movie for anyone interested in the evolution of British rock.

I loved this movie. It is not the slick, polished nostalgic crap that Hollywood loves to pump out. It is a gritty realistic tale of a boy who is kicking at authority and looking for a way out. Not only is David Essex absolutely gorgeous, he is a convincing actor. Stardust is just as brilliant. These movies are not depressing, they're realistic, and that can be a shock when we're so used to Cinderella style drama.
