If nothing else, they're a pop band who can't seem to help but write good songs--in the case of WARNING, some really good songs. This album makes up for any missteps the band may have taken since the fluke success of DOOKIE.From the Katrina And The Waves groove of "Castaway" to the Beatles-esque harmonica on "Hold On," WARNING inspires a sense of musical deja vu that never crosses the line into out-and-out thievery. Hands-down, the most interesting track here is "Misery," which struts along with Doors-like quirkiness and goes through a progression of cultural movements that take instrumental turns in the form of deep strings, mariachi brass, and acoustic guitar melodies. If there's a warning to be found here, it's that Green Day has become a real band. Not very punk of them, but promising all the same.

Editorial Reviews
...The sound of 3 men growing old far too gracefully....the tracks stroll along at a worryingly sedate pace, barely breaking a sweat....Like punk never happened. Again.
Mojo

3.5 stars out of 5 - ...This sort of music used to be called new wave in the late Seventies...
Melody Maker (20001003)

...They draw non-punk influences to their sound while hanging tight to [their] melodic Midas touch...
CMJ (20001002)

...May not only be the most beautiful Green Day LP but also the bravest....working with a sense of maturity they have only begun to express...
Magnet (20010101)

4 out of 5 - ...A good little record....further refining the folk-punk they introduced 2 years ago...
Alternative Press (20001101)

3 stars out of 5 - ...Hugely likeable, terribly noisy and cute, as well as being jammed with proper pop songs, there remains nothing wrong with Green Day...
Q (20001101)

6 out of 10 - ...Ventures a Kurt Weill-style story-song, Beatles harmonica, even the riff from Petula Clark's 'Downtown'....Armstrong is so earnestly good-hearted, so generally inclined toward the inner misfit...you can't help cheering him on...
Spin (20001201)

3 stars out of 5 - ...The once-giddy melodies now settle for midtempo jangle or novelty....the best tune picks up where 1997s 'Good Riddance' left off....Green Day as the new Bread - who knew?

Green Day at its Best

Created: 26/03/06
This album is a must buy for Green Day and general rock fans. I have listened to it countless times and I never tire of its driving beats, melodies, and lyrics. Although different from the style of Dookie and Nimrod, Warning: holds its own. The album includes the International Superhits songs Warning:, Macy's Day Parade, and Minority which showcase some of Green Day's most creative lyrics and sounds. Despite these popular hits, the lesser known songs including the driving Blood, Sex, and Booze, the Elanore Rigby style song Misery, and even the classic Green Day rock of Deadbeat Holiday make Warning Green Day's best album regardless of its less than warm reception when first released. Every song seems like you've heard it before and the album, like any good thing, ends too quickly. Although less than hard rock, this album shows the true creative ingenuity that makes Green Day's music so easy to listen to and so addicting.

Warning- Green Day

A brilliant album done by Billie Joe and the boys. In addition to Warning, Minority, Waiting, and Macys Day Parade, many other great songs are waiting to be found on this disk. Every song has a unique song from castaway to misery. Top songs also incude Hold On, Deadbeat Holiday, and the possibly the best song on the album, Church on Sunday. Possibly the finest Green Day album ever, even if youre not a diehard Green Day fan, this truly is a purchase that wont let you down.

Green Day in a different way!

Created: 03/06/07
This is a CD made by my favorite band Green Day, and I bought it because I've heard a couple of the songs that was on it, and I wanted the whole record. It is a quiet early recording (If my memory doesn't fail me), but it's not as hard, and all-punked as some of the other stuff they have made. The CD Nimrod for exampel. Some of the music in it, I would propoably define as pop-punk instead of punk-rock... But it is still awesome!!
It is one of the Best CD's they have made.

Green Day Warning

Created: 09/02/10
Even though I am not a die hard Green Day fan I found this cd too good to pass up. Every song is quality and in my opinion would convert non-Green Day fans. A must have I am purchasing this a second time having lost the first copy. A good band with good music and lyrics which to me is harder to find these days.

Blood, Sex and Booze

Created: 13/02/09
You would be hard pressed to find a punk tune on Green Day's Warning but once you get past the initial shock you'll accept it for what it is...a pop masterpiece. These songs are catchy and will stick in your head. 4 stars.
