"Love Me Tender" has its origins in the Civil War ballad "Aura Lee," "It's Now Or Never" found Elvis Americanizing the Neapolitan ballad "O Sole Mio," and "Wooden Heart" likewise was converted from a German children's song. This Memphis native's choice of artists to cover was equally intriguing and includes Hollywood legend Al Jolson ("Are You Lonesome Tonight?"), New Orleans soul shouter Smiley Lewis ("One Night"), blues great Big Mama Thornton ("Hound Dog"), and country titan Hank Snow ("[Now And Then There's] A Fool Such As I"). Further testimony of Presley's long-lasting appeal is the inclusion of the JXL Radio Edit Remix of "A Little Less Conversation," a UK #1 that not only enabled Elvis to have more chart-toppers than The Beatles, but also became a hit in a number of other countries including the United States.

Elvis is Still #1

Created: 20/08/07
I bought this CD after having owned the "Second to None" CD for about 2 years now and playing the heck out of it. The "Second..." CD is the sequel to the "30 #1 Hits", and, well, it's better than the first one. The "30 #1 Hits" are mostly the overplayed Elvis stuff that you've probably heard more than enough of for the rest of your lifetime. (Well, my stepfather is an Elvis freak - so I was forced to listen to it growing up.) The tracks I most enjoy are the ones which were #1 on the European charts and weren't played as much back in the USA. Especially a little number Elvis delivers in German - you wonder if that was the ballad he sung Priscilla to woo her into his arms and out of her country. The #1 hits from his later years are just the real jewels on here for me - Hunk of Burnin' Love, In The Ghetto, Way Down, Suspicious Minds. And on the "Second..." CD, they're even more fun - Moody Blue, Ol' Kentucky Rain, Battle Hymn of the Republic. The liner notes on "30..." are interesting, since they give little blurbs on each recording individually. You get a timeline, through this, of Elvis's life and his progression and, then, regression. Man, I miss The King.

A nearly complete volume of the best of Elvis.Must Have

Created: 10/11/08
This album includes all of the best Elvis Presley songs. These recordings cover a 20 year span from: January 10,1956 thru October 29,1976 (recording dates). It is remastered from the original (1st generation) studio master tapes and published on the RCA label. The sound quality is astoundingly HiFi, especially if you are used to listening to Elvis on original Sun or RCA LPs. Also the 20 page booklet included in the package provides a wealth of information on Elvis's recording career. This is a great Elvis compilation and this CD is a "must have" for the Elvis Presley fan. It is a great addition to any country and/or rock & roll collection. If you love Elvis and his music, do yourself a favor and buy this album - you'll be glad you did!

Elvis: 30#1 Hits

Created: 13/05/06
This is a great cd. It gives the ultimate fan or music lover a great variety of Elvis' music. Please note, not all of these songs were number 1 in the US, for instance Burning Love, it only reached #2. The excitement, hype, anticipation, over the first remix of an Elvis song makes the cd a must have too. A Little Less Conversation is for the new and old fans alike. Elvis liked this song and I think he would have happy with the remix. Listen to it in Ocean's 11 and Las Vegas as their theme song every week. Also note, The Wonder of You included on this cd is not the orignal song Elvis recorded. It is a different cut, it is good but not as good as the original. I do highly recommend this cd and think you should listen to it for yourself. It is a great cd to add to any Elvis or music collection.

A must-have CD for any Rock-N-Roll collection.

This album is a real treat, giving you the best of Elvis's career. Starting with his first #1 hit, "Heartbreak Hotel", and concluding with the 2002 #1 smash remix hit "A Little Less Conversation". This album is a superb addition to any Elvis Fan's collection or a great way to introduce those unfamilar with the King's music to some of the best Rock-N-Roll of all time.

All The Favorites...Less One

Created: 18/02/07
If you are a true Elvis fan, you will definitely love this album. If you would just like more exposure to "The King's" music, this is the perfect opportunity. This is a great Elvis starter kit at the very least.

I, however, did not know Elvis had so many...softer rock songs. If you don't know many Elvis songs, and you're looking for more songs like "Jailhouse Rock," and "Viva Las Vegas," you may be a bit disappointed. I was also disappointed by the fact that "Viva Las Vegas" wasn't even included in these hits. Oh, well. Best track, in my opinion, was definitely the latest/last song "Little Less Conversation."

Overall, 30 #1 Hits is itself a hit. Check it out.
