Album NotesSuicide Note includes: Pete (bass).Suicide Note: Jay Golday (vocals, guitar, melodica, toy piano, organ); Casey Donley (vocals, tambourine); Bob Peele (acoustic guitar, bass guitar); Jason Gagovski (drums, maracas, tambourine).Fans of older Cave-In who still enjoy elements of harmony and hardcore creativity can find redemption in Suicide Note. The ten songs on You're Not Looking So Good remind the listener what the members of a band like Cave-In did so well at the beginning of their careers: They refused to play their influences, but instead used components of those influences to help create a better band. (More often than not, it seems that bands making the most creative, impressive music are those that don't play their influences.) With feet planted in the mid-'80s punk scene but with enough sheer destruction to clobber the listener over the head and knock him/her three feet into the ground, You're Not Looking So Good is no doubt a winner. Whether it's the demonically explosive screams of Casey Donley or the amazingly breathtaking backup harmonies that sound as though they were stolen from classic King's X, this is the complete package. The guitar riffs are sometimes unique ("Not in a Million Years") and at other times seem to pay homage to the aforementioned Cave-In ("Come on F*** Me"). The album is filled with clever tongue-in-cheek lyrics and the rhythm section holds everything tight as a noose. With the exception of things being a bit on the short side (ten songs in a little under 30 minutes), this might be the best hardcore to come out of Indianapolis since Split Lip, albeit a much different form of the genre. ~ Kurt Morris
