Excellent, well written, and informative book. This is a must for all caregivers or persons with a family member, friend, or loved one with Alzheimer's Disease. Many times during my mom's journey with AD have I called upon this book for help. Nine times out of ten my solution was found within the pages of this helpful book. A definite help for me during difficult times. Good luck to all those coping with AD.

Caregiving A Loved One With Dementia
Created: 15/05/06
Whether your loved one has Alzheimer's Disease, other forms of dementia, or any other disabling condition that requires a caregiver, this book will become one of your favorite reference tools. As a professional caregiver, I read this book and shared it with the caregivers I advocated for. As a caregiver for my one elderly mother, I have re-read this book and shared it with other family members. You will learn that as caregiver, you will become a nurse, domestic worker, financial manager, chef, scheduler, chaufer, and confident. You will receive almost no help at all from anyone, unless and until you ask for it! Be proactive and find someone to help you become a more effective caregiver. The 36-Hour Day is named this for a good reason--these will be the longest, and most memorable days of your life! Take care of yourself.

An Excellent Resource

Anyone who has to deal with a family member or friend suffering from dementia or Alzheimer disease should read this book. It provided such insight into my own situation that I couldn't put it down. My mother-in-law lives with us and suffers severe short-term memory loss which leads to a host of 'situations' that are not only described in this book, but also explained. I found great comfort in reading about what is going on in her mind and also in my life. The book was recommended to me and I have since recommended it to others. As a church secretary I saw the benefit of being able to share this book and ordered several copies to keep in the church library, where is loaned out as needed for an indefinite period. Highly recommended.
