Movie synopsis

In Andy Tennant's (SWEET HOME ALABAMA, ANNA AND THE KING) delightful romantic comedy HITCH, Will Smith stars as Alex Hitchens, an urban "date doctor" who helps the common man woo the woman of his dreams. Hitch will use any means necessary--dance lessons, back waxing--to instill romantic confidence in his clientele. Why? He was once a lonely wallflower himself, who learned about love and heartbreak the hard way. His latest project, Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), may be his most difficult. Brennaman, a junior accountant prone to clumsiness, has fallen head-over-heels for one of his clients, Allegra Cole (Amber Valleta), a well-known celebrity. To complicate things further, Hitch's dating dogma is shaken when he meets and falls for a beautiful gossip columnist, Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), whose sharp wit easily pierces his cool façade. Conflict arises when Melas uncovers Hitch's true profession and blames him for her best friend being dumped.HITCH is set in affluent hot spots around New York City, making for some splendid visuals. Tennant gets charming performances from all of his leads, especially James, who makes an amazing transition from television's KING OF QUEENS and nearly steals the spotlight from Smith with his talent for physical comedy. Nevertheless, James and Smith have excellent onscreen chemistry. Kevin Bisch's first script is full of clever, contemporary dialogue, alternately pointing out the silliness and the poignancy of love and dating.

Will Smith is the name... but Kevin James is the Star

Created: 22/09/05
I probably liked "Hitch" for different reasons than most... Sure, Will Smith is hilarious, Eva Mendes is gorgeous, there are plenty of laughs, and men and women seemed to enjoy the movie equally... But for me - the movie is all about Kevin James ('King of Queens'). James plays the average man (beer belly, insecure, etc) so well and with some much sarcasm.

Though there are plenty of great scenes between Smith (who plays Alex Hitchens - a ladies man and love doctor) and Eva Mendes - but Smith's interactions with Kevin James are priceless. James plays an insecure financial advisor who seeks guidance from Hitchens as he pursues Allegra Cole - a rich starlet. As James fumbles through words, dance moves, etc - the laughs start flowing.

The movie ends as you one would imagine - after all, everything ends perfectly in the romantic comedy world right? But you can't help but walking away with a smile and recounting some of the laughs during the movie.

The movie is decently written and certainly not award worthy... but Smith's and James enthusiasm and charisma is contagious and really makes the movie. If you are looking for a mindless time and a few laughs - try "Hitch."

So Funny

Created: 20/06/06
I really loved this movie. It was both funny and Romantic. Hitch(played by Will Smith) is a professional love doctor. Men hire him to help them win the love of woman they really like. One of his cases is Albert (Played by Kevin James). Albert wants to date Allegra (played by Amber Valletta) a rich heiress that he works for. Hitch meets Sara (played by Eva Melas) a gossip colonist. He really likes her and wants to date her. Everytime he gets around her it turns into a disaster. When she discovers his job, she thinks it's different than it really is. She has a bad source and thinks he only does it to get woman in the bed with men. I will end here cause I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone. This is a hilarious movie. You won't regret this one.

Hitch

Created: 22/09/05
Will Smith, star of blockbuster hits Ali, Independence Day, Wild Wild West, Bad Boys, became famous as a goofy, big eared teenager who moves from Philadelphia to Beverly Hills in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Smith's overly anxious character faired quite nicely with ladies in California, setting him up nicely for his lead role in the 2005 release of Hitch. In case you don't know the premise, Smith's character Alex Hitchins helps romantically challenged men attract the dream girls of their choice.

While it is not Oscar Award winning acting or plotline, the light hearted humor and tips and tricks for those single professionals who are currently testing the metropolitan dating scene make it fully worth the purchase. Although Smith may be the film's lead actor, Kevin James steals the show. Whether dancing poorly, hitting the town with a girl who appears to be far out of his league or just spending time with Hitch, he continuously makes you laugh.

Check it out if you get the opportunity!

If you love Will Smith, your love Hitch

Created: 06/12/06
Will Smith is the man when it comes to playing a variate of roles. This movie is maybe his funniest one yet. Hitch does things in this movie that are unbelievable, he'll make you laugh & still touch your heart while trying to make a love connection.
Guys beware, watching this movie WILL get your women asking you things like, "Why can't you be that sweet?" or "I wish you were more romantic like that". You might even be asked other questions.
Above all, this movie gets 2 thumbs-up.....no matter what your lady ask you.

Hitch (2005, DVD)

This movie is funny. Not fall off your chair, knee slapping funny. But a cute feel good comedy. Will Smith is great in this movie. Perfect..... choice to play the role. He plays this "love doctor" that can help guys get women. He teaches them suave moves etc... But then he meets a girl who he actually can't have and realizes that she is the one he wants. Through the whole process of trying to get the girl, he realizes that he just wants to be a one man woman. Great cast. Great movie and popcorn date movie. If you collect movies, this one is good.
