Movie synopsis

Starring Billy Bob Thornton, CHRYSTAL is a touching tale of a man coming to terms with a life left in tatters. After 16 years spent behind bars, Joe (Thornton) returns to the wife he crippled in a car accident that proved fatal for their young son. Desperate to make amends and start afresh, Joe's wife, Chrystal (Lisa Blount), has a hard time accepting his presence back in her life. Director Ray McKinnon effortlessly guides his film through a series of ups and downs for Joe and Chrystal, creating a satisfying portrait of a man struggling to recapture what he once had. McKinnon also appears in the movie, in an impressive cast which also includes a turn from famed American character actor Harry Dean Stanton.

Ray McKinnon Strikes Again

This film is a must see, not only because Billy Bob Thorton is in it, but because the 2nd of Ginny Mule's films is just as good as the first (The Accountant 2001).
Ray McKinnon writes, directos, and stars in his 2nd dark film. This movie is a dark drama as opposed to GM's first dark comedy. Again set in the south, and again starring Ray McKinnon and Walton Goggins (The Shield, Bourne Identity). The acting is just flawless. The story is great but disturbing.
There are a few scenes I would challenge as gratuitous in nature, but can be overlooked due to the film's originality.
Truly an original story - you can't wait to find out how it ends. Also starring in this is Lisa Blount, Ray McKinnon's wife and co-founder of GM.
If you appreciate good acting, you'll appreciate this movie.

I had never heard of this movie, until it was recommended by a friend, as one of her favorites.

Billy Bob Thornton is an amazing actor, and can play just about any role, and make you believe it is really his own life. This role is not an exception.

Lisa Blount plays an amazingly messed up woman, and is at times, pathetic, and other times, hilarious.

This is a very good, sad, funny, movie.

The scenery, music, etc. of this movie, is especially interesting to me, since it was filmed in the Ozarks - an area of the country that is very dear to my heart.

Off the hook. Totally what you expect from Billy Bob.Beautiful scenery, good compliment of other stars, and a wacked out plot that could have only been pulled off by a few people and they are mostly in the movie. All in all if you dont watch this movie you are seriously missing out!!!

I am a big fan of Billy Bob, which is why I bought the movie. I have to say it was not as good as Bandits, however, better than levity. Billy Bob doesn't mind taking risks as we saw in Monster House or Bad Santa. My favorites to date are The Alamo and Armageddon.
