H-10 iRiver MP3 Player
Created: 04/10/08
I had gone thru a Sansa MP3 player and also a couple of no-name players before I got around to the iRiver H-10.. So I was waiting for the slightest thing to get me on my soapbox...BUT so far I haven't been able to find a single thing about the H-10 that I don't like. The URGE/Rhapsody Music service screwed up one of my units, so I chunked it and bought the iRiver H-10. I like being able to download my own music from my Windows Media Player to it. I have converted over a thousand records and cassettes into my WMP and now I have them on the H-10 iRiver player at a moments notice. It will play all of a certain artist...Or I can download a complete playlist and it will play them in order.. The battery life is remarkable. Other players have gone dead after two or three days..but the H-10 holds its charge for a week at a time,..and I listen to it about three hours a night before going to sleep. The display window is large and easy to understand. This is a great unit and well worth investing in. I did buy an upper scale set of headsets to replace the ones that came with the H-10, but who doesn't do that anyway!!!!

I love how easy to use these things are. Great interface. Sync using either a program from Iriver co. or using Windows Media player.
I find media player to work the best for my uses.
Battery life has lasted an entire 17 hr drive with 2 bars left still! amazing.
Holds pictures, files, and can pick up radio stations.
Best part about it is how cheap they are, problem is they do not make them anymore so getting a new one is hard.I got my first in 2006 and it lasted 4 years including being rained on, dropped in puddles, dropped on the floor breaking the glass off, and got bit by a dog. Finally conked out but just bought a new one on ebay.
Sure it cant do things like play games, play videos, or show album covers and such. But if you want easy to use interface, great sound, and a cheap MP3 player you cant go wrong with this.

iRiver H10 5 gb MP3 player with fm tuner
Created: 08/04/06
Saw a review of the H10 player in Sound and Vision and in a computer magazine. Decided to buy it based on reviews and features that included the fm tuner from which you can record. Initially, I loved it as the installation was fairly simple and apart from minimal instruction manual which was included and which could be amplified in English, I was able to install my selected music from both a website and my own CDs. However, I did not like the fact that you cannot delete any track from the mp 3 player and the Cd-rom program for download was confusing -- accidentally deleted one group of files using the synchronize with player as it deletes all files prior to istalling new files. If you want to add files - you only use add and not synchronize which was no clearly explained. Also, it was not easy to list titles and makes playlists from CDs -- although it did pick up the tiles from Musicmatch.
Positive features were: great sound both from the downloaded music files and from the Fm-tuner; light and easy to carry - fitted into shirt pocket and even clipped to t-shirt; good interface for selection with clear lcd and selection interface on front. Negative features were: buttons for power, hold lock and selection were not clearly marked (black on black) and not easy to use when the neoprene cover was on. Worst feature is the fact that after 5 months - it died. Charger was working but mp3 player does not even light up. Given the cost even on E-Bay of over 140, this is not a good investment.

Don't blame the player

Quite a few people are having problems with this player.
The complaints are clearly user or PC problems, not problems with the player.
Can't find the buttons? How do you even respond to that?
Slow scrolling? Adjust the speed to 2x or 4x!!
If you're at the top of the list and want to get to the bottom, scroll up one click, you're there.
2 cables?
The USB charge/download cable is only one cable with a convenient indicator light.
Deleting files? The PC jukebox should work, but if not, use the UMS mode.
Syncing problems. Most likely a PC setup problem.
-An incompatible version of WMP10. If your using WMP11 beta, you're screwed.
-Windows Updates
-Windows Media Format Runtime
-DRM Folder(a hidden folder) Control panel>Folders>Show hidden folders.
Reinstall the DRM folder.
1. Delete the DRM folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM
2. Go to Microsoft
http://services.wmdrm.windowsmedia.com/indivSite
and click upgrade. DRM will be reinstalled and upgraded.
I've had my player for a long time with no problems.
I did have to setup my PC for PlaysForSure *To Go*, but that is not iRiver specific.
Great Player.
I haven't found a better one yet or I'd buy it.

Very sweet player with tons of storage. One of the best audio systems and last before all mp players were derated. Good battery life as well. Nice buy.
