I brought this coin because i have always had an interest in Native American Indians and of course the Buffalo has been used many ways. The sinue is used to make Dreamcatchers which i used to make.
This coin being 1919 means alot to me,as this is the year my Mum was born and i thought that this is a special way of remberance and yes i will be purchasing more in the future.
Why pick a coin and not something else, a coin doesn't break down and destroy, this can be handed down to the family from generation to generation.

James Earle Fraser was the designer of the famed "Buffalo" or Indian Head nickel. He worked for four years with Augustus St. Gaudens, the designer of the famous St. Gaudens double gold eagle, though St. Gaudens had nothing to do with the nickel design. Fraser also designed the Navy Cross as well as other well known bas-relief sculptures. The image of the Indian on the obverse is actually a composite of several Native Americans, I believe the number was three or four. The design was given new life in a commemorative silver dollar in 2001, as well as the one ounce gold bullion coin still in production at the U.S. Mint. It has become an iconic coin and very controversial, often criticized as well as applauded. The size of the devices (images) set it apart from all other U.S. coins, nearly flooding off the perimeter of the coin. I think it is one of the most beautiful and unusual coins ever designed, and certainly one of my favorites. It is highly collectible and cherished by many.

I bought this product because it is "uniquely" American; it's also a little difficult to find in this year and grade!! So, the price was right and I bought it.
This nickel was minted in bas(high) relief and is one of the most popular coins to collect. It was produced from 1913-1938.
