Movie synopsis

Coming off the series finale of FRIENDS, Jennifer Aniston sets out to prove herself a serious actress with DERAILED, a tense thriller that is anything but funny. While the film gives most of its screen time to Clive Owen, Aniston proves, as in THE GOOD GIRL, that she is capable of pulling off a dramatic role. Meeting on a commuter train one morning in Chicago, ad executive Charles (Owen) and financial analyst Lucinda (Aniston) have an immediate connection. Worn down by his job, strained marriage, and a sick child, Charles finds himself drawn to the escape Lucinda can offer. A lunch meeting, followed by dinner and drinks, leads the way to a rendezvous in a sleazy motel, where no sooner have the adulterous lovebirds ripped each other's clothes off than a sadistic thief (Vincent Cassel) breaks into the room and puts them through hours of nightmarish horror. Because of their relationship's illicit nature, the two are unable to go to the cops, and are thus virtually powerless to their attacker's every whim, leaving themselves open to blackmail as he threatens their families and lives. Choosing momentary gratification and the excitement of the unknown over the values he generally holds dear, Charles more than pays the price for his indiscretion.Playing off his audience's greatest fears, director Mikael Hafstrom creates some scenes so horrific they are sure to haunt viewers for hours after the credits roll. A morality tale of sorts, DERAILED explores the terrible effects of lying and infidelity, while the film's most powerful scenes leave viewers with the paranoid feeling that the only person you can trust is yourself.

More interesting than I though with interesting twist

Created: 11/10/06
I was curious to see this movie upon its release, in part to see how Jennifer Aniston would do in one of the more serious roles she has taken on in recent years and also as I think that Clive Owen is a great actor having been used to him as a regular on British Television from his days in the series "Chancer".
Critics seemed to pan this movie, so having lessened my expectations, I was pleasantly surprised and found this an entertaining, edge of your seat thriller there was an interesting twist, though for us, the plot did become a little too transparent and we were able to figure out the ending, well before its conclusion. That said, it was still interesting enough, that we wanted to watch until the end to see exactly how they would play out the scenes.
The movie does have some rough scenes, including a gritty, harsh rape scene and some violence - the premise being Owen and Aniston meet on a commuter train, develop an instant spark which leads down the infidelity path - but a violent thief interrupts their near first physical encounter by attacking Own and raping Aniston - this leads to Owen being blackmailed with no recourse.
It was an entertaining moive, with enough twists and suspense to keep me watching - sure it does not require much thinking to uncover the plot - but thre are still enough suprises to fire your interest and keep you watching until the end!!

Aniston breaks typecast role

Created: 23/03/06
The movie aside, Jennifer Aniston steps out of her traditional funny-girl role in this dramatic and not-so-suspenseful movie.
The movie wasn't terribly gripping, and it certainly was predictable, but Aniston gave a shocking and stunning performance as Lucinda Harris, a "powerful busineswoman".
Overall, the film was one of those anxiety stricken movies that demand your anger at the characters for their easily forseeable demise due to their ridiculous life choices. Some critics have said "thriller of the year".... I wonder if they were watching the same movie?
The unrated version put back some gratuitous sex scenes, and is none the better for it.
Kudos to Aniston, and shame on the director for insulting the audience with foreshadowing that tipped us off to what should have been a surprise ending.

Don't Talk To Strangers

Created: 10/07/06
Charles's (Clive Owen)life gets turned upside down when he flirts with a stanger (Jennifer Aniston) on a train during his morning commute. What seems like an innocent affair turns into a deadly game of blackmail and murder in this hot thriller. This is the best thing I've seen Jennifer Aniston in. She has real depth as an actress. I love the ending. Most movies are predictible this one wasn't.

I really like this movie. It starts out like maybe a cute movie then you get that one two punch in the gut, wow.Jennifer aniston & clive owen are specially stunning and work well together, you could just feel the chemistry between them.Jennifer to me is really remarkable is this movie, in that this is totally a different role then your use to seeing her in and she nails it right on the head, fantastic.Vincent cassel is reveting as the ruthless bad guy.It is a terrific movie with more surprises that you don't see coming. It reminds me of an old alfred hitchcock movie, its that great.

Great Suspense Movie

Created: 28/06/06
This is the best suspense movie that I have seen in a very long time. I was really impressed. Two married executives (played by Jennifer Anniston and Clive Owen) meet on a commuter train one day and spark up a friendship that turns into an affair. When they go to a hotel to have sex, someone breaks in and robs them, rapes her, and beats him up. After that the guy has their contact information and starts black mailing them. This movie is totally action packed and leaves you on the edge of your seat. It was so surprising. You get to see a whole new side to Jennifer Anniston's acting. She was great.
