HP LaserJet 3380 All-In-One Laser Printer

The HP 3380 printer is a good printer, but it does have problems.
First Bad; HP software won't install on Vista, so you lose alot of the functions with vista.
Second Bad; The scanner assembly (under the glass) gets dirty and the mirrors must get cleaned, or it displays the error message "scanner error", which then makes it useless even for printing. To clean the mirrors, takes some skill, disassemble, clean, get mirrors back in the right directions, they look almost identical on both sides, then reassemble, then check to see if works, if not try again and again(makeing sure to never remove or move the small circuit board on the scanner unit, it is almost impossible to realign!!). You could try the fast clean and may get lucky by just wipeing off the mirrors without taking it apart. By removing the small glass window, then slowly get the scanner all the way to the small window where you can try and wipe off some of the mirrors with a q-tip(last a little while).
The third problem is the fuser assembly breaks bown and the paper catches and creases, or jams. You must again take the whole printer apart to replace the fuser assembly (usually about $100.00 or so, or even take that assemble apart which is very very dificult and replace the sleve and greese about $10.
The best thing is the 15x cartridges it last about 3500 prints for $80 oem or $30 off brand, and it's not to hard to refil for $3-$10, but a bit messy.
The other good thing is that it doesn't have a chip in the cartridge, so if it is running low you can shake the cartridge for another few prints, and again, and again, useing every bit of the toner to the last drop.
Another good thing is how the paper loads in front, need to print a check just slide on top, want to print both sides, just reinsert the page just printed with the print down and the other side is printed. You don't have to pull the paper tray in and out to load the paper.
Another thing I like is how the coper works, you can fill the entire scanner window the select the reduce to regular size paper and it reduces the scanned image to fit nicely on the new size paper. Also works for enlargeing, put a small piece of paper on scanner glass and select fit to size and will print it out the right size for the paper selected.
Other people have complained about rollers and paper feeders, jamming paper etc. But none of mine ever had these problems. Good luck..

I Brought This one because I started Having problems with The scanner. But besides that this is a very capable copier a must have for a small office on a budget the fax options work well and the print and copy options are also superb. The only downside with this machine is the scan function and software I used omni page software and scanned several of my papers for editing but the software that comes with it is not a real good ocr software and Individual scans are a nightmare with having To keep opening the software to keep it making new scans beside that its a workhorse.I would Highly Recomend

Appears to be exactly as advertised of course I have no way of telling, at least yet, if it is generic toner rather than HP. It is a great price and prompt delivery

I have one of these in each of my offices and LOVE them. The do the job effectively and very cost-efficiently. LOVE THEM ! ! !
