Black Decker Spacemaker ODC450 12 Cups Coffee Maker

This is a wonderful under the counter coffeemaker. Easy to use and off the counter as well. We had a very expensive ($100+) stainless coffeemaker spacemaker which had to be replaced as the plastic water unit was falling apart. This Black and Decker coffeemaker is great and we love it. Coffee stays nice and hot for a long time. And the price is good, too!

Still own and love the our original spacemaker probably about 15+ years. Therefore when I was in the market to purchase a coffee maker for our new boat we wanted another spacemaker. We were not sure spacemakers were available anymore, had to do a lot of searching to find the unit. We have not installed the unit yet, it is sitting on the counter but have been very happy with the unit so far. The pouring lid of the new carafe is much better than the original. The old one would generally leak when I poured coffee but the new lid is great, no more spills. Hopefully this unit will be around as long as the first. However, I would like to find a way to keep the filter basket from staining.

This model is a nightmare....the brew basket has been recalled by black and decker and by the time I got the replacement basket the machine had stopped working. Bought the newer model it is longer and the water container is a pain to fill. Really wish black and decker would get it together and go back to the quality control they once had.

I have owned this coffeemaker for about a month, and I found it to be exactly what I want. It has a removable water resovior, which you fill and snap back into the coffemaker. This eliminates the messy step of pouring the water into the coffeemaker, and, more inportantly, also elimantes the overhead space you would otherswise need. This allows me to place it on the counter top under the cabinets, out of the way, so it's great if you have limited counter space. It also has automtic two-hour shut-off, a clock and a 24-hour timer to start brewing at a pre-set time. The basket that holds the coffe and filter is large, and I have never had a problem with it overflowing and allowing grounds to get into the coffe pot, something that a happens frequently with another well-known brand that I previously owned. The only problem I have is that is difficult to tell when the coffemaker is on, as the only indication is that a back-light comes on behind the clock. This makes the clock a little easier to read, but it is difficult to see from across the room.

This coffee maker fits the countertop perfectly due to where/how the water reservoir is designed. Love the removable cannister it is reason I have been using this type of coffee maker for the last 10 years. Unlike other coffee makers where you have to pour the water into the top, this is much handier!
Hope they continue to make them in the new silver colors and not phase out the current style.
