Peter Deuel, Ben Murphy, ETC

This is really a basic must-have for any Pete Duel fan or Ben Murphy for that matter. Alias Smith/Jones has been touted in some respects as an imitation of "Butch Cassidy..." and okay, the premise is similar, but in this series, the enigmatic Pete Duel, along w/his sidekick, Ben Murphy as two notorious Old West Bankrobbers who try to go for amnesty, shines highly not only in its appeal to Pete Duel fans (he is so precious!)but in the chemistry and of the times ('70's Westerns). This DVD set has the feature film along w/the first season (i can't even remember if there was a 2nd season w/Pete Duel, b/c he died and Roger Murphy, ironically as the narrator, replaced Pete Duel w/Ben Murphy)and i have loved every minute of it and savoured it as well. i feel i waited TOO LONG to get this set, but am glad of it and if you have any doubt, just free your mind. If you are a fan, then you already have it. i am "gushing" about Pete Duel, b/c when he died (i was a Pre-Teen) i was devastated to the point of absoulute mental-ness. i loved seeing him on the screen each week, and the interaction b/t the two actors and i loved seeing him do ANYTHING. He has other things in his reportoire but Alias...is his shining glory. i miss him to this day and would have loved to see what else his career could have brought to me. Alias...is intelligent, witty, fun and above all, has Peter Deuel.

Long Live Smith and Jones

Sadly, the death of Pete Duel brought this fantastic series to a close.
This Western features two "nice-guy" bandits whose forte was robbing banks and trains. The duo was very popular with the general public. Not so much with banks and railroads.
In a time when the Old West ran rampant with crime, the government decided to offer an amnesty program to try to curb the activities. Smith (Hannibel Hayes) and Jones (Kid Curry) prevail upon a former outlaw buddy now turned sheriff to appeal to the government in their behalf to qualify them for the amnesty.
One small condition... they must behave for a full year and stay out of trouble in order to get it. And let the fun begin!
This Western is laced with humor, highly entertaining and loaded with charm.
I loved it then, and I love it now.

Loved Pete Duel and Ben Murphy

This has always been one of my favorite shows. Pete Duel and Ben Murphy are a joy to watch. They are the perfect pair to play against each other. The shows are funny, very entertaining yet remains a classic western. It doesn't matter how many times I see the shows, they always have the same effect---I am glued to the tv set, and can not get enough of Pete Duel and Ben Murphy. Wish they still made shows like that.

It's So Great That This Show Is On DVD !!
I loved this show as a Kid !
But then again I loved most of the 1950's & 1960's TV Westerns also!!
But by the time this TV show came out, westerns were not a popular genre on TV.
Well this TV show turned the critics and viewers upside down! It was a funny western with likable stars, Peter Duel and Ben Murphy.
After Peter died, it just wasn't the same, but I still watched it.
This DVD is worth renting if just viewing, or buying if you are a western fan!

Alias Smith and Jones

Here's a series I remember fondly when I was a kid. Wasn't sure I'd feel the same about it after so many years. But I am SO glad I purchased the Season One dvd of Alias Smith and Jones! I haven't watched all the episodes yet but have enjoyed watching it as much as I did when I was a kid. And, even my 11 yr old son enjoyed watching it with my husband and I.
This is a classic series, one that everyone can enjoy time and time again. I'm so glad I bought it!
