) As a newcomer to the world of SLR cameras I needed some real help understanding the complexities of my camera. I read my owners manual but could only take in small parts of it and I really wanted to get full use out of my Nikon.
So, having some experience with the "Dummies" books in the past I read this one. Immediately I began to experience clarity and a new found love for my expensive camera. Each button was addressed and I was able to apply my new-found knowledge and get out of the “auto” mode for capturing images.
There is additional information supplied for post-production techniques using software such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. While I personally didn’t need this information, someone who is unfamiliar would fine it useful.
This will be a very handy reference tool that I will go back to frequently to use in conjunction with my camera’s manual.

I needed additional knowledge in photography due a new camera upgrade DSLR. I turned to the "Dummies" book as my past experiences with them were very good. I was NOT disappointed. The book is well laid out and follows a common sense pathway threw out. All technical drawings are very clear and precise and easy to understand for the novice photographer.
Photos published in the book are there for a specific reason and are well explained as the examples they represent.
I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to improve their knowledge with Digital SLRs and to gain a better understanding of digital pros & cons. it explained clearly and concisely all terminology related to photography both digital and film. The text in this book is an easy read interspersed with humor of which the " Dummies " books are known for. The price on this book varies from shop to shop and used versus new. I purchased a new copy as I know I will use it for referencing in the future.

This is a great Book for both beginners and intermediate as well! The full color photos are such a help, and it walks you through it step by step! Highly recommenced this book!Equal to books I have paid over $100.00 for!

I thought this book was very informative and has definitely has help my understanding of my camera and photography in general. After reading my camera’s manual I still didn’t know what certain features were for or when to use them, this book gives those reasons and the pro’s and con’s for using or not using a particular feature. It also goes in to file format and editing. A must read for any beginner maybe even a good refresher for experienced photographers too.
