El Cid (DVD, 2008, 2-Disc Set, Deluxe Edition)

One of the best epic movies made with a cast of thousands. Produced by Samuel Bronston and tell a fictionalized tale of a real Spanish medieval hero, Don Rodrigo Dias de Vivar, known as "El Cid" and his battles among various factions of Christians and Muslims within the Iberian peninsula which would become in 1492 the country of Spain. The actors, scenes and dialogues are memorable. It's interesting to see that the religious fanatiscim that he was fighting against with both his Christian and Muslim allies is very much alive here today in the 21st Century.

The movie is an epic motion picture starring the great Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren. The color, story, music, production and directing are great. This motion picture is truely an historical epic of the history of spain. I purchased the movie and a gift for my mother birthday. She just loves this motion picture!!

This movie is one of my favorites. the dvd is in mint condition. plus you get the comments from the people that were there. the two main actors were not happy with each other thats why he would not look her in the eyes when they had close scenes with each other. Elizabeth Taylor had recieved one million dollars for Cleopatra. Sophia Loren demanded this price for her part in El Cid. what a great movie.

It is nice to know that you could get practically anything through Ebay. El Cid is a movie I saw when I was a kid and it left me with very good impressions I will not forget. I am happy I now have the DVD as well as the other movies of Charlton Heston.
