The Amateurs (DVD, 2008)

I was impressed by this well written and directed story about a group of "amateurs" struggling to find one big break in life. When anyone first describes this movie to you they have to bring up that it is about making a porno which immediately stops people in their tracks, but don't let it stop you: this movie has little to no nudity if I recall except for maybe Ted Danson's behind and while there is language to an extent, the porno is simply a backdrop to the funny and touching interactions, failures, and triumphs made by the cast. It will surprise you and leave you feeling good.

The cast was full of great actors. But even they could not carry this dreary story line. I ended up fast forwarding the video from about the mid point. I rented Zack and Mini Make a Porno and it was great - full of laughs and very mild R (some brief semi nudity). FOr my money, put your time in with Zack and forget the Amateurs.

I like it because it is somewhat bizarre and I am a Jeff Bridges fan.
It is not something to watch a lot. The price was very good.

The great mix of the cast is what caught my attention. Realy glade I purchaced. Will allow other friends to view and will highly recomend to our out of state relatives etc. Thanks for this GREAT Movie. Gaylon
