NCIS - Season 6

Created: 03/08/09
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs is the leader of a team of special agents belonging to the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) Major Case Response Team. Gibbs, a former Marine, is a tough investigator and a highly skilled interrogator who relies on his gut instinct as much as evidence. Gibbs' second in command is Senior Field Agent Tony DiNozzo, a womanizing, movie-quoting former Baltimore Homicide Detective, who despite being the class clown always gets the job done. The team also consists of Officer Ziva David, a Mossad officer who is a skilled fighter, as well as Junior Field Agent Timothy McGee, a computer-savvy agent often mocked by DiNozzo. Assisting them are Abby Sciuto, the energetic-but-Goth lab tech who is like a daughter to Gibbs, and Dr. Donald Mallard, nicknamed Ducky, the eccentric medical examiner full of unusual stories. This team of elite agents, based in Washington, D.C., solve criminal cases involving Marine and Navy personnel and their families, sometimes traveling the United States - or the world - to do it.

In a time where television is saturated with forensic crime fighter shows we have everything from the formula work of Dick Wolfe to Holly Hunter working alongside a guitar strumming angel. Jusgt below Holly Hunter is a brilliantly written show called NCIS. The show is so well written-and non formula scripts at that- that the actors are given a chance to delve into very deep characters, filled with complicated, often hidden pasts. Mark Harmon is the cornerstone of this terrific series and is surrounded by an ensemble of wonderful actors. The exe3cutive producers aren't afriad to pull the rug out from beneath us: the death of Kate was something that we had a serious time facing. To be succesful, you must not always pander to the audience, but you have to keep them watching. The intensity surrounding Kate's funeral was such that we kept wtaching; the mystery surrounding the woman who came into the ensemble was strong enough that by the time we knew we could trust her, we liked it.

But there's a lot more to it than that: there are no huge shoot out scenes-no ceertainly that are superfluous (NCIS Las Vegas has more bullets flying than a Columbian drug cartell.) Instead we spend more time looking at remarkable state of the art equipemt that allows these characters to delve into their history, training and thinking (Isn't Abby a remarkable mystery?)and their unknown histories always seem to push the story forward; and unlike Dick Wolfe and his formula CSI's, thingws don't always have a rosy clean ending after 42 minutes of story. I strongly suggest NCIS as a way to lose yourself in an exciting world where things are often fair and an occasional smile slips in. We can watch the torture Mark Harmon (Agent Gibbs) as he plans away at his boat, suggesting that someday, when he's fullfilled hisw destiny, he'll get on board and float away to places where there is no stress, no murderers and no need to crawl into the min of qa madman.

Trust me, here.

Suspenseful, Great Cast

Created: 13/10/09
I love NCIS and I have 2 of the other seasons on dvd. Michael Weatherly, Cote dePablo, Mark Harmon, Sean Murray, Pauley Perette, David McCallum, and Rocky Carroll are such a great cast. Anyone who watches NCIS will find a favorite character and with the season 6 finale you will be left on the edge of your seat!

NCIS: 6th season

Created: 22/08/10
NCIS is a great TV series and I thoroughly enjoyed the 6th season on DVD. Mark Harmon is perfect for the role of Gibbs. It has great stories and still weaves in the characters growth. I'm not too sure I like the changes in "Tim" however....he's less tolerant and not as funny as he was originally.

NCIS - The Complete Sixth Season (DVD, 2009)

Brilliant DVD set, Mark Harmon is really good in the role of Special Agent Gibbs and if you thought Michael Waverley (Tony Dinozzo) was annoying in the other seasons, he tops it off in this one (annoying really)
