    Versatile, Quiet, Good Sounding Pedal

    Created: 09/08/10
I decided to buy this pedal for two main reasons - the "synth swell" sounds and the "whammy" functions. I really like the synth sounds and I'm sure I'll work them into a song somewhere. The whammy works almost as my actual whammy pedal, however the travel of the pedal is limited and it makes it a bit harder to be accurate with the pitch. The other sounds are good as well. I really like the "univibe" setting and will use it quite a bit. I was also surprised to find that I really like the 1st wah setting too. It sounds great with my setup and I'm sure I'll use that a lot.
I was afraid the pedal might create some noise in my signal chain, but as far as I can tell it's dead quiet. That alone makes this a great pedal for my chain. I've been trying to reduce my number of pedals among other things to reduce my overall noise ratio and I'm very happy that this pedal meets my demands.
Something else I like is that you can push the rear part of the pedal down to access distortion on top of the selected effect. I can use that as an effective "in between" setting between my clean sound, and my distortion sound. When I don't want full-on distortion I can kick that on while on my clean channel and it sounds pretty good. What would have made this pedal better would be the ability to use the distortion only, without the effect, but that's no big deal.
The only other gripe I have is that if you set up your settings for say, the synth sound - now when you switch to another effect those same knobs may not be in the right place for that effect. You have to just set everything at a "happy medium" so all the effects will sound okay. It would be nice if you could set everything up for each sound, and have it save those settings.
Other than those two gripes I'm very pleased with this pedal so far. It allows me to get rid of a few stompboxes on my board, and sounds good. I can't say how reliable it will be yet, since I've only had it a short time, but it's built very well and I'm not too hard on my pedals anyway. I'd say this is a very cool pedal to own.

Lots of Bang for the Buck

Awesome pedal AGAIN by Digitech. 7 effects and 7 distortions in one, what's not to love? You'll need to memorize the book to get the most out of it, but the modeling is spot on. If you're looking for a little "whiz-bang" out of a stompbox, you're in the right place. Once you learn to navigate it, the pedal will not disappoint. The wahs are nice & adjustable, the whammy is functional & fun, the univibe is just super cool and the Synth Swell is almost worth the cost of the whole pedal. It is truly an awesome pedal to do recordings with, live..well you'll have to be good at tweaking on the fly, but still cool.

Digitech EX-7 Effect & Expression Pedal

    Created: 22/10/10
As a career pro musician, I am a minimalist in that you'll never see me doing a pedal dance on a board loaded with a bunch of boxes that suck the true tone while giving back lots of extra line noise and thinning down the original fat beefiness of the basic guitar and amp. Usually straight into the power to get the biggest sound, I have tried a few singular-sound pedals, but one like this that sports a host of great sounds is well worth investing in. Getting to own and use it for well less than half the standard price is a delight in itself. All of the effects are top rate and compact in a single pedal that controls them underfoot. Perfect! The only down-side may be its heft, but that equates to a unit that will last! It is very well-built and from one of the very best companies in the R&R guitar world. Now that I have one, I can see why some are willing to pay full price. I got it for far less... What more could I ask for?

This probably isn't the most essential pedal on my pedal board, but it is definitely one of, if not the, coolest for variations in sound to mix things up. I mainly bought it for the whammy and space station settings, which are awesome when used appropriately, but I found some of the other setting to be possibly even more awesome. The Leslie setting is great sounding for chordal playing, and even though I prefer my Ibanez Weeping Demon for pure wah, the 2 wah settings really are amazing. The dunlop setting has more options and range to choose than the actual dunlop products, which I used previously for many years. There is no way this pedal won't put a big smile on your face if you're a guitar effects junkie like myself.

This thing is awesome, it has so many different features. It has 2 different types of wahs, and that alone almost pays for itself. Plus it has the digitech whammy built right in, and although it doesnt have the range of options the real whammy has, its still pretty awesome. It also has a bunch of different distortions, and I havnt even had a chance to check those out yet. The $200 price is a little steep, but if you can find it cheaper, dont hesitate a second, I didnt, and I couldnt be happier. I almost enjoy the simplicity of the wah feature more than my crybaby, as blasphemous as that sounds. I really cant talk this up much more, so just go buy it and see for yourself.
