Movie synopsis

Director John G. Avildsen's 8 SECONDS is the true story of the meteoric rise and all-too-brief career of Lane Frost, the youngest national champion bull rider in history. Luke Perry stars as Lane, a shy but popular young bareback rodeo rider whose gutsy determination catapults him to stardom. As Lane gains a winning reputation, he meets and falls in love with Kellie (Cynthia Geary), a spirited, beautiful young horsewoman. After a passionate courtship, the two young rodeo riders get married. Kellie looks after Lane and sacrifices her own freedom to be his devoted wife, but the pressures of Lane's career soon take their toll. Kellie is often left alone while Lane continues to ride the circuit with his longtime friends and competitors, including three-time rodeo champion Tuff Hedeman (Stephen Baldwin). Lane faces his ultimate challenge attempting to ride Red Rock, a dangerous bull known for fatally injuring his riders. Perry gives a fine performance in this gutsy and inspirational tale of a real-life rodeo hero, set to a swinging country-western soundtrack featuring Vince Gill and Brooks & Dunn, among others.

Trying to explain how PBR and other Bull riding sports bloomed over night, a couple of Alaskan nights, I bouhgt this film for my wife, son and grandson. Luke Perry does a fair job as Lane Frost and Stephen Baldwin worked hard to potray Tuff Hedeman. Tough roles to fill for both actors especially since Tuff is still up and around and still kicking.
If you haven't got a clue as to what chasing rodeo's used to be like before the Millions of bucks a year payouts, this is the movie. If you want to know how it got to be million dollar payouts, these are two of the men responsible for bringing bull riding to a whole new level.
I don't think Tuff would have ever done what he has done for Bull rding had he not had the love of Lane Frost he had. The diferance in their riding if they were gun slingers, wasn't enough to bet any ones life on. Both were early popular Icons in the sport that promoted the sport itself.
8 seconds needs to be followed by 8 years..
Tuff's struggle to brig the PBRtolife and dea lwith what he had to in order to achieve a dream larger than himself or any rider only to run head first into the politics of big money!
8 Seconds...Learn the meaning of Cowboy up! It don't come easy!
Learn who Lane Frost was and not only what motivated him but why he was personally driven to be the best. Se that Cowboys ain't easy to love and are harder to hold and breaking the faith is something that will ruin a rider.
