Movie synopsis

In 88 MINUTES, Dr. Jack Gramm (Al Pacino), a Seattle-based college professor and forensic psychiatrist, is informed by an enigmatic caller that he has exactly that amount of time to live. The threat is linked to Gramm's role in putting a convicted serial killer (Neal McDonough) behind bars nearly a decade earlier, and sends the scholar/consultant on a desperate run to avert his imminent demise. Entering into Gramm's dangerous orbit are his dutiful assistant (Amy Brenneman), an FBI agent (William Forsythe), and his admiring young students (most notably Alicia Witt), all of whom add layers to the tense mystery.Shelved for years, 88 MINUTES was finally released in U.S. theaters during 2008, marking director Jon Avnet's first feature-film project since 1997's RED CORNER. (Avnet was brought in as a replacement for original helmer James Foley.) Pacino clearly knows his way around a thriller (see HEAT and INSOMNIA), and approaches his beleaguered character with typical gusto, while his costars, particularly Forsythe and Witt, also offer up energetic turns. Though the high-concept plot is secondary to Pacino's agitated performance, even those who drift from the storyline will appreciate the Hollywood veteran's over-the-top acting, especially if they are diehard fans of the iconic actor.

88 Minutes - Good Entertainment

Created: 20/09/08
Set in the city of Seattle, 88 Minutes stars Al Pacino (Scarface & Many more) as a college professor who is also an FBI criminal psychiatrist.

The movie starts out with the introduction of the serial killer (Neal McDonough) that Dr. Jack Gramm (Al Pacino) put away with his testimony. The story evolves from there with Gramm receiving a death threat, and the rest of the movie is Gramm having to piece together the pieces in '88 Minutes' to save his live.

The movie was rather predictable, however Pacino is such a good actor that he made it all enjoyable.

I recommend this movie to any Pacino fan and to anyone who likes a good movie with twists in it.

Rated 4 of 5 for a good performance by Al Pacino

Jack Gramm -- a college professor and occasional forensic psychologist for the FBI, finds himself in a race against time when he receives a mysterious phone call telling him he has exactly 88 minutes left to live. This is quite the thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

high octane adrenaline rush

Absolutely a murder mystery fans paradise. See the characters, see the action, feel the rush, try to solve the puzzle; to catch a serial killer. No, its not Pacino's best performance, and I can say that he can do a lot better, but this movie is not to be underrated. This is one hell of a set up; I'm gonna shut up now and hope that you won't miss this movie.

88 MINUTES---SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

Created: 04/01/09
Al Pacino: where could it possibly go wrong? The writers and director must be sadists. The story is pointless, has no real plot, and utilizes a lot of female abuse to keep the viewers' attention. The DVD makes a great Frisbee or could be used as a "dangly" on a mobile.
