The Andy Griffith Show - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2004, 4-Disc Set)

I LOVE this first season DVD set. I own this and it is worth every penny we paid for it(you can get season DVD's usually for about a total of $30 if you shop around on eBay.) If you think about it, this actually isn't expensive at all. It is $1-2 per episode, which is well worth it as these hold their value and are very organized.

We used to have piles of video tapes and replaced them with this DVD set and the others, and we LOVE it. We can easily find episodes and scenes that we want. We can find something that we want to see in a minute or less. Don Knotts developes and streamlines his hilarious skills in this first season DVD set.

Between Barney's funny comments and actions, and Andy's calm, cool personality, the contrast make what I think is the funniest show in the history of TV!!!!! Opie is young in this first season, in which he isn't as funny or as good for the show as later years, but hey, they all have to start somewhere.

With this set comes original sponsor spots(commercials done by the Andy Griffith Show cast) as a special feature and they are very fun to see. It is great seeing Andy, Barney, etc. do commercials for Post toasties and Sanka coffee. Each sponsor spot corresponds with the show that it was played with.

The Andy Griffith show is one of the absolute best family shows that was ever produced. My 10 year old daughter is crazy about the show & I actually bought this set for her. There is humor that can tickle the funny bone of every member of the family. There is never anything objectionable, so you don't have to sit there with your finger on the mute button if your kids are watching. I ahve seasons 1 & 2 now & plan to buy more. I love the dvd's because they have the WHOLE episode (TV cuts out a few minutes each time it is aired) and they also have extra little tidbits, like commercials that were done with the cast & odds & ends of trivia in the dvd cases. Highly recommended.

Have always loved Andy Griffith Show, particularly the B&W episodes. Not much on TV now that doesn't offend one way or other. So, I got rid of cable and have set out to purchase DVDs of programming I grew up with (i.e. Beverly Hill Billies, Andy Griffith, etc.). Now when I have a house full of kids, I can pop these in and not worry about then seeing or hearing something inappropriate. Plus, they all get a kick out of watching them too!

Great wholesome family entertainment! You never grow tired of watching this classic show. With the dvd you even see small bits that you don't see on TV due to editing for commercials.

If your not a n andy griffith or barney fife fan you will be if you watched the show. Wish I lived in mayberry rfd. LIFE WAS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT ITEM i suggest every home should have a mandatory copy
