Andy Griffith Complete Series, Pilot and Movie
Created: 09/03/10
My wife and I grew up watching "The Andy Griffith Show" and where looking for something other than the trash that is being offered on Prime Time television to watch. We ordered the series and have been watching one to two shows most nights and have been loving each and every show. These shows are wholesome and "most have a positive morale message" and could be a useful tool for younger families to view and discuss with their children. The shows setting is in a small town in North Carolina which also adds to the charm by focusing on a slower pace of life. My wife and I grew up in the suburbs of Washington D.C. and visited our extended families that lived in small southern towns so these shows really take us back. Lastly our twenty year old daughter who lives a fast pace life with college and work comes to my wife or I when she is home in the evening and asks "Will you be watching Andy Griffith tonight?" as she is enjoying them as well. "Enjoy and God Bless"

TAGS is best ever.

I don't remember watching TAGS when I was growing up but I have been a "rerun" fan(atic) for years. When you watch the reruns on TV too much of the "incidental" conversation between the actors has been edited out to make room for commercials. Often this does not hurt the overall plot of the show but it causes us to miss out on some (really) funny stuff and too often you don't (even) know what you are missing.
This DVD collection allows you to see not only all 249 episodes (in order) but each episode in its unedited entirety. The set even includes the "pilot" Danny Thomas episode (which I had never seen), the Return To Mayberry movie, an episode of Gomer Pyle USMC where Opie runs off to join the marines and several commercial and sponsor spots (for Post cereal and Sanka coffee) starring Andy, Barney and Opie themselves.
The only thing that they could have included would have added to the set would be bloopers that were reshot or edited out but I don't know if any of these have survived the last 40 years.
The collection is first class in every respect. You really have to see (and watch) it to believe it. The only part I don't like is that some of the discs have "previews" for other TV shows that pop up when you first insert the DVD but you can fast forward past them.
All in all the best box set (that I've seen) of the very best TV show ever made. If you are a fan of The Andy Griffith Show you have to have this set.

Great television program

The Andy Griffith Show is a great classic television show. I show that families can watch together, without the fear of the slut contained in much of televison today.
It also has some great actors Don Knott as Barney Fife, Hal Smith as Otis, Andy Griffith as Andy Taylor, Ron Howard as Opie.

The Andy Griffith Show DVD Set is 100% Worth the Money!
Created: 05/01/08
I bought the The Andy Griffith Show - The Complete Series (2007, DVD) a few weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the DVD Quality on this set. The entire Disc set is very graphic in detail with beautiful pictures of all the main people who played in the Andy Griffith Show. These kinds of TV shows are just what every household should own in a set like this, they show the true meaning of good wholesome family value. The only thing I was not impressed by is the cardboard inserts that the disc comes in and for the price you pay the company who produced these should at least put the discs in hard fold out cases like the ones all regular DVD’s come in. Overall, I'd recommend this set to anyone especially if you’re an Andy Griffith fan like me.

I love The Andy Griffith show! I forgot what it was like to not have to turn the channel to get away from disturbing images in a show. It is nice to not have to do that anymore. Wonderfully funny, clean, realistic show w/ great acting from Andy and all the other people on the show like Don Knotts, Ronny Howard and Fraces Bavier. Shot in real locations, no computer generated images; I love it. Down to earth characters who teach a lesson while you watch, or just lift your spirits w/ a good laugh. Wonderful investment that will be enjoyed for a long time, and good timing to buy since TVLand has seen fit to take Andy off where we are.
