I love my Macbook. I've had mine for approximately six years. It's not too small or not too bulky. It's an excellent machine for surfing the internet, traveling, watching videos, cataloguing music and above all, I've never had a virus issue with it. It's tough as nails because I took it with me many, many times around the world. It has been dropped and banged around quite a bit and keeps on humming. The processor is very fast and the RAM is easily upgradable. I really love the looks of the machine, it has an art deco look to it. The only problems I've had with my Mac is the top case was poorly designed and occasional bouts of the battery not charging. The top case normally breaks off at the bottom just to the left and right of the track pad. Sometimes the battery won't charge. I found an easy fix for that on one of the many Mac chat rooms online. Most of the Macbooks suffer from the crack issue. Oh, another part of the machine that is poorly designed is the space bar below the track pad. On most older Macs the space bar ceases to "click" when pressed. The space bar still works perfectly, however, it just doesn't click like it's supposed to. I suppose the switches under the space bar gets worn out from repeated clicking. I minimized the problem by enabling Trackpad Clicking and Two Finger Scrolling in the System Preferences menu. The battery is more than adequate, no complaints here. I've owned other Windows PC laptops, to include Toshiba and HP. I got rid of them because they became very unstable or prone to virus attacks.

I've had my mac for several years now and wouldn't trade it for any pc out there. I love the mac. It is so reliable, easy to use, and intuitive. I bought this mac for a family member because he wanted an upgrade from his g4 mac. It's a great buy at the price, runs fast and is a very good size. The 13" screen is bright and colorful but more than that it is excellent for documents, watching videos or surfing the web. The mac is also less than 5 pounds so it is easy to take along with you. Slip it into a carry all and go. The battery will get up to 6 hours use.
The only thing I do not really like is the case can get beat up and scratched easily so I recommend a case protector.

The Bad Apple That Fell Hard From The Tree

 | No, I would not recommend this product.

Giving this MacBook model even two stars is being kind, Being a long time Mac user and having owned numerous models this one is an Apple disaster.

It's absolutely the worst designed MacBook I've ever seen, The first time I removed the uppercase/keyboard to take out the non-functioning CD/DVD drive I could not believe the number of screws that were involved to get to it.

Even after upgrading the memory to 6GB (apple specs aren't always so accurate) and installing a solid state drive it just didn't seem to make much of a performance difference.

At the time I purchased it I really had no idea how it looked, It has a very flimsy feel in the overall way it's put together.

Supposedly it's the predecessor to the Unibody or the MacBook pro, Apple should have just skipped this one and went right to the NeXT step (pun strongly intended)

I actually renamed it Ugly Betty and only after owning it for a little over a month sold it, The new owner is very happy with.

I fully agree with the user 'imacblue7'. This is one of the worst laptops I have ever had to work on. Taking it fully apart to replace the logic board, LCD and LCD inverter cable was awful.

However, the battery life is amazing, the performance is outstanding, and the overall design I rather enjoyed. I owned a DELL Studio 1535 with the same specs as the MacBook (2,1GHz Core2Duo, 4G DDR2@667MHz) and the Mac far out performed the DELL - even with the DELL running Windows 7 64 or Ubuntu 64.

Personally, I would never pay for a brand new Mac, the cost is outrageous. I am actually selling mine to purchase a better PC laptop with a dedicated graphics card in order to do mobile graphics design for my customer base.

This computer has held up great. It is from early 2008 and I have been using it in 2013 and it runs smooth and fast with excellent internet speed and good battery life. I have been trying to find an affordable / dependable mac book for some time now and finally I have it! JACKPOT!!
