This single HUGE flaw makes this the most overrated item in the market!

 | No, I would not recommend this product.

Take this from a computer tech expert who has owned several Apple laptop products in the past: If you plan to use a macbook for video editing, 3D, other rendering, gaming, or other memory/processor intensive tasks, beware!

Apple Inc. really seems to love making their products pleasing to potential customers. So much so that they are seemingly willing to sacrifice everything else almost to the point of dishonesty! What Apple Inc. doesn't tell you is that its thin profile and light weight of the machine come at a huge cost to the buyer. Heat sinks take up additional space and weight, so what does Apple do? You got it, they remove them.

Who needs heat sinks and proper air circulation after all? God forbid they even add a heating vent... nope! That's not Apple, they care too much of the machine's aesthetics and design that they choose to leave the heating solutions out all together as forget about them! Horray!

Think an USB powered fan pad will keep the problem at bay? Think again! It seems that a reason Apple removed the air (in) vent and only kept an air out vent was because Apple loves getting their buyers to throw away all their previous accessories in order to purchase only Apple proprietary hardware and accessories. This belief would make great sense considering that they even went as far as to create their own proprietary video output jack that no other thing can connect to in order to promote sales on their proprietary cables and accessories. What do you think Apple did in order to make it seem like it's a good thing to unwary buyers? They just went ahead and slapped a cool sounding name to it and called it a "thunderbolt" port. What the heck is a "thunderbolt" port anyways? It's not like anything can ever connect to it. I'll prefer my HDMI port thank you very much.

This computer has heat issues like you wouldn't believe, and so have all the other predecessors to this machine. I remember even the macbook pro in 2006 having heating issues and the problem being addressed several times on their Apple Support forums. Its good to know that Apple takes steps in the wrong direction when told how it can improve its products by customers. This makes me feel very appreciated and warm all inside.

Just like everyone else, I fell prey to the marketing tactics Apple uses and went ahead and bought a brand-new Retina display Macbook Pro with flash technology thinking it would be like no other computer. Who wouldn't think the macbook pro they've just bought will be unlike any other laptop they've ever purchased after dishing out the large quantity of money it takes to even buy one? Needless to say, I was disappointed fairly quickly after buying it and had to list it up for sale in a used condition after finding that the heat problems addressed by the community had been completely ignored. Not only had the problem been ignored, it has actually gotten worse since Apple decided to make their product even more pretty rather than useful by adding the insane amount of detail into the graphics processor running the retina display while pretty much ignoring the heating issues. Pfft, who even needs better cooling when you're adding more high tech components that produce much more heat than before? Once I noticed this, I knew I had to sell my unit and was disappointed in Apple as a company.

Heat ruins your machine, which in turn causes you to buy another, so I can see why Apple wouldn't even see fixing the heat issue as a priority.

I am disappoint.

Required this product to replace an earlier model. (Had that MacBook 13 for 4 years, and personally replaced the hard drive to get more memory, plus the camera failed.) When I received the MacBook Pro the wifi did not work. Called Apple support and they did a reset and wifi worked until May 2nd. Schedulled an appointment with Apple store Genius Bar. They determined the the airport card failed and replaced the card free of charge. Took two days as the card was not in stock. I was very pleased with the outstanding over all service. However, my 4 star rating is based on the early hardware failure, Apple gets 5 stars from me for service. Thus farI have had good experience with this type computer. Hope the initial hardware failure was the last one. Suggest considering extending the warranty.

The laptop is great, looks good runs fast, and great battery life. Although these are great features i was expecting more for the price tag, faster quicker processing in programs etc. If you have the extra money go with MAC if you are on a budget go with a cheeper unit.

I change the new MBA for the MBP. I'm much happier with the pro considering its more practical for me and the keyboard is also much more comfortable. I also prefer the glass covered screen because of those screen pokers out their; you know who you are ! The startup time and resume time is actually quicker on the MBA although not by much; one reason is because the system still searches the cd-rom drive for bootup and stalls. Another reason I choose the pro is because still continues to have a better resale value.

Apple's MacBook Pro 13-Inch (June 2012) gives the insanely cost sensitive Mac user a bang for their buck. Having owned a MacBook Pro 15-inch (Mid-2010) the 15-inch comes much lighter in weight and can easily be tucked away. Unlike the new Retina display 13-Inch this Macbook Pro offers some upgrade capabilities for memory and storage. Personally I purchase (2x 8GB) 16GB Corsair memory, OCZ Vertex 4 256MB SSD storage and removed the optical drive using the SATA drive as a secondary storage.
