It has a ton of space, and pretty decent sound quality. I don't really like that it doesn't have a video player, and that the battery life is so short. My Sandisk MP3 player has 22 hour battery life! I don't like the whole iTunes set up, but there is awesome software out there so you can use Windows Media Player. I think that's pretty awesome. All in all I think the iPod is nice, kinda chunky, but nice. I don't think it's the best thing out there though. Really this particular iPod model isn't the best for portablity as it's rather bulky and heavy, but it's still pretty cool. I'd recommend it if you can find it at a decent price and have compatible software.

the Apple iPod classic 4th Generation (20 GB) is cheap. It is so simple to use and has plenty of memory.

hundreds of free albums, but would you buy them ?????

i have bought several ipods, and after changing the battery, they come to life with the seller's music. 4th generation classics only offer a choice of erase the music and sync to your own computer's music, or listen to what music it came with. this 5th generation classic allowed adding its contents to my music, except for itunes purchases. it even had 10.2 gigs of music stored as a file on disc. but it had a broken cable to the lock button.
you can buy these as a gamble on the type of music they hold, but if you do that, are you really into music? these ipods are great if you want to copy your cd's onto your coputer using itunes, and then carry hundreds of albums in your shirt-pocket, yo listen to on headphones, car radio, or home stereo.

"Old" Ipod performs like new! 20/40 GB Ipod 4th Gen

i like the simplicity. monochrome screen, simple backlight, and the buttons are easy to use. with the dock connector, which is a recently new feature when this ipod first emerged, is very helpful for once you buy it, that same USB cable used to sync the ipod, can be plugged into many aftermarket radio decks, AC converters, and much more. there are also so many more accessories such as the iHome, speaker towers and much more that work with this ipod. this ipod is for the person who wants one, but doesn't need to pay $300 for basically, a color screen, 100gb bigger HDD, and can choose between silver or black. i think the original white ipods are the best, andi would never buy one that is newer than 4th generation.
