Book was recommended by several friends. I liked the book, well written and very touching. I have a fondness for dogs and wonder what they think. The author, Garth Stein, shows his own fondness for dogs. Enzo was a noble dog, with a great soul. I often wonder what animals think and hope they think like Enzo.

Life from the Dogs point of view...

Loved this book. Had one time where it got me, wasn't expecting it...I imagine it will you too..Enzo, the dog, is the voice of the book..Life with his race car driver Denny and his wife and child...A little heavy sometimes on the racing references, in fact that is where the title of the book comes from, but overall, a must read..If you a race fan or not, is worth the read..Later on in the book, you won't want to put it down...

Want a "cute & fast read?" This is the book for you - as "ONLY the way a dog could tell it!" One of the members of my book club mentioned the book, and being a dog-lover, I had to read it! As I read the book, I was reminded of those days when our family dogs helped to raise me, my brother and sister, and my own children. I love Enzo, he gave his all for his family members and don't forget to consider that "Mongolian Theory" relating to dogs! Think about it for a moment ... isn't "dog" just "God" spelled backwards!? HE entrusted all of HIS creatures to man for a rerason! AND isn't it wonderful and comforting to know the simple joys they (creatures - like dogs) return so freely!!!

    Good book, quick read

    Created: 04/01/10
I usually prefer non-fiction but for a work of fiction (mind candy) this was an enjoyable read, even though it was unusual in that it was narrated from a dog's perspective. Author was a bit raw at times that seemed unnecessary for this type of work but overall I would reccomend it for those that like dogs and car racing. Good book for a plane trip or other travel.

The title provides an intriguing clue .

The book was recommended to me by a friend who is, like me a lover of animals, especially dogs. I almost could not get past the first few pages -- a sad beginning -- but it is proving a joy to read. It has much to teach about life, surprisingly enough from the perspective of the dog who is the narrator of this story about tears and triumph.
