Movie synopsis
"Battle Royale: The Complete Collection" features digital audio in 7.1 surround sound. The 4-disc set is packed full of special features and additional material. Included in the horror movie package are several versions of the film. The theatrical version of the film as well as the director's cut of the film is included. There is also the sequel of the movie "Battle Royale II." All of the material included features Japanese audio with English subtitles. "Battle Royale: The Complete Collection" features "The Making of Battle Royale," which takes viewers through the process that filmmakers went through to construct one of the most controversial films released. The "Battle Royale: The Complete Collection" includes a "Special Effects Comparison" and a "Battle Royale Documentary." The horror movie features additional material like filming on the set and scenes from the 2000 Tokyo Film Festival. Fans of the film and the controversy surrounding it will enjoy all of the bonus material contained within the 4-disc set.

) I'm not going to bother reviewing the movies themselves because really, you wouldn't be considering buying this if you didn't already know it's premise. Instead, I'll talk about the package itself as a whole.
This set comes with 4 discs; Disc 1 and 2 consist of the director's cut and theatrical cut of the original Battle Royale. Disc 2 contains Battle Royale 2: Requiem, the very lacking sequel, and disc 4 is a DVD that contains a bunch of bonus features that relate to BR1.
Both movies have their original Japanese track with English subtitles, but the Director's Cut also contains an english dub track for those too lazy to read. Be warned though, it's god awful. The only redeeming factor to it is Spike Spencer voicing Nobu. Image quality is really good as well, though I haven't had a chance to watch this with a surround sound system so I can't comment on that.
Overall, if you can't get your hands on the limited edition Arrow release of this movie, this is your next best option. The inclusion of BR2 is a nice treat for those who want to witness the whole story and the decent amount of bonus material on disc 4 is going to definitely please the hardcore fans.
Also, for the record..Battle Royale came out in 2000. It is in no way, shape, or form a rip off of The Hunger Games and if you found that movie and it's PG-13 rating too tame, Battle Royale is the perfect substitute.
