Season Four Featurettes
I bought Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Four for the collection itself. Even though season four was one of my least favorite seasons, that was no reason to exclude it from the collection entirely. What I found (to my surprise) were that there were featurettes available that made it worth it. The audio commentary by Seth Green and Joss Whedon for "Wild at Heart" alone was completely worth it.
BtVS is back and going to college
I am a huge fan of BtVS and have always wanted to get the entire series on DVD, so I turned to eBay to get the best deals. As Buffy is going to college, we see the introduction of new characters, Riley and Tara; the addition of past characters to the lineup, Anya and Spike; and the ominous portrayal of what the government would do if they found out demons and vampires existed, the Initiative. There are of course a couple of filler episodes like "Beer Bad", but all-in-all this is a great addition for any BtVS or Angel fan! I can't wait to purchase the remaining seasons!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, fourth season
I enjoy the whole Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Season four still has the clever one-liners and the humor of the entirely make-believe world of vampires, demons, and other worldly dimensions. The only complaint I have ever had about this season is that Willow becomes a lesbian and continues to be for the rest of the series. I could understand the circumstances in which Willow starts this lesbian realtionship but I have never thought that it ever made any sense to have her continue on as a lesbian. I don't think Willow had tendencies in the lesbian direction and that she stays a lesbian just seems out of place and looks like it was just there to make some political statement. Kind of awkward. Alyson Hannigan who plays Willow does an excellent job with the role change.
Buffy Season 4
Season 4 of Buffy begins with Buffy and the Scoobies starting college. Season 4 is different from the previous seasons in that it has more of a full-season arc, involving the Initiative. A lot happens in this season, and one of my favorite episodes is Wild at Heart. It is SO painful to watch, but it's so incredibly well-acted, especially by Alyson Hannigan, who just breaks your heart. Definitely one of the best episodes. Another great episode is Hush, where about half of the episode has no dialogue due to demons who steal the voices of everyone in Sunnydale. It's one of the more popular Buffy episodes, and was nominated for an Emmy. The other episodes are good too, and even though the Initiative angle starts to lose its appeal towards the end, it's still a great season where the characters grow and lot and there are some great storylines.
Buffy Season 4 Simply Rocks!!!
Buffy reached new heights in season 4 with groundbreaking episodes like "the Gentlemen". Any fan of Buffy or the vampire genre needs to watch these discs. Great special features, awesome episodes, and a strong season long story. Watching just once wasn't enough, I've already started the season over again, and I now own all seven seasons of Buffy and season one of Angel. Joss Whedon is a creative genius. If you like these discs check out "FIREFLY" the series, and "Serenity"
