Good Or Just Plain Overated
Created: 14/12/10
Infinity Ward hit off a new age of shooters when CODMW2 came out (Most commonly referred to as COD6) with some great graphics that took advantage of ps3's blu-ray capabilities and brought some decent graphics to Xbox and PC.
So First of all, this game is popular and all that, but games only become popular because of the word: addiction. COD6 is the one of the most addictive games of all time (obviously losing to WOW). So how it worked? People bought it for a standard shooter or had played previous games in the series, then told it to friends who told it to friends and it goes on like dominos. The addiction of the game kept going for a year which is impressive for a standard game. Call of Duty: Black Ops has just came out and COD6 Is still being played. This shows that many players like the game so they are going through all the content not just parts.
Now on to the technicalities:
Firstly Graphics. The Graphics of this game are actually quite average. Infinity Ward hasn't made full use of ps3 graphics and are generally quite blurry/fuzzy unless on a HD TV. While playing splitscreen on a SD TV it feels like you have to peer in on your screen to only see a really small image of your gun poking out that looks a little fuzzy.
But On the other hand the gore in this game is great. When you kill someone, you get to see a realistic simulation of them dying rather then them just falling over and red cordial spurts out of their chest.
Over All I'd Give The Graphics a 8.0 out of 10
Secondly, Content/Lasting Appeal :
This game's content is really the thing that makes me love it, with options to customise what guns you use, what they do and what they look like as well as customising your own character. As the player levels up( by playing it) they unlock all of the above each level corresponding to a different item. This RPG element is very clever as it encourages players to play the game for much longer to get all the juicy spoils that come out of levelling up. The campaign is great, simply great. It has a great storyline, focusing on you infiltrating a russian terrorist group with some great missions. But some of the NPC's encountered can prove troublesome and much like the online servers very much laggy.
Overall I give it a 9.8 out of 10 for Content
Thirdly, Gameplay:
This game has some great parts to it and some terribly awful parts. The general controlling system is great with an option to change the controls and some great basic controls. Splitscreen is OK but as the graphics are pretty bad it is hard to see and becomes really tedious)SD TV). On the other hand HD TV splitscreen is fun.
Ahh the live...
Absolutely Awful! What were infinity ward thinking? NO VAC! UBER LAG! NO FREE UPDATES? NO LISTENING TO CUSTOMERS?
The graphics are pretty bad on live and as ERSB suggests, the gaming experience changes online a lot. It is very laggy and is filled with boosters that get tac nukes in about 14 secs so if you want to have a fair online game, don't get COD6 please.
! This Does Not Apply To PC !
Overall This game's Gameplay Is OK But Needs Work. 7.5 Out of 10. Due to the awful live especially on ps3
Overall This game is A mixture of Overated or Good. It is good But could do with some graphics reworking and some serious Live fixing. But the campaign is great in there is great lasting appeal and on a HD TV it is very fun to have a laugh and shoot-about with friends.
Overall I Give A Score of 8.7 Out Of 10

COD Modern Warfare 2 PS3
Created: 26/08/10
Borrowing themes from American invasion epic Red Dawn and TV series like 24, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 attempts to capture the insanity and life-and-death situations of real-life combat. Once again you hop between several engaging story arcs as you globe-trot on missions to stop a war and ultimately bring a madman to justice.
Right from the outset, MW2 fixes one of the issues some people had with the original game's story -- instead of setting the action in a fictional Middle Eastern country, the game opens up at a firebase in war torn Afghanistan. Though pixel counters would say otherwise, this game still looks amazing in action. Whether sprinting down cramped alleyways or racing down the side of a frozen mountainside MW2 moves at a frenetic pace that rarely stutters.

The original Modern Warfare dealt with themes of life, death, action and consequences. The sequel goes after these concepts in a manner rare for the video game world; it treats its audience like an adult. Footage of a particular sequence involving the death of innocent civilians (which I won't spoil here) leaked online before launch and caused a preemptive uproar from misinformed pontificators. Hopefully this signals a step forward for the "videogame as art" debate, a move from electronic toy to a true multimedia device for conveying adult stories to adults. While the rest of the story is certainly entertaining and contains plenty of jaw dropping moments, it's unfortunate that it never really matches the emotional zenith of that moment.
Though the set-pieces are new and bigger than ever MW2 doesn't radically change the solid Call of Duty formula. Infinity Ward is one of the very best at creating a polished, guided-shooter experience. If you follow the game's prescribed path, the action unfolds like a well-timed performance. However, if you're a curious player like me who likes to "peak behind the curtain," the game punishes you quickly and severely. For example, move too far ahead of your squad and a phantom sniper will take you out with a single shot. I know these criticisms aren't new to the series, but whereas many games reward exploration and initiative it seems a little backward to force you down such a rigid path. But MW2 does finally retire the perpetual enemy spawn machines of its forebears.
Adding two- or four-player co-op to the campaign would have seemed like a no-brainer, but rather than potentially break the scripted campaign experience MW2 includes a new two-player co-op mode called Spec-Ops instead. You and a buddy can battle through a series of bite-sized challenges; borrowing scenarios and locations from the single-player story, each mission has you and a partner completing tasks together (like surviving an enemy onslaught in a shopping center or racing against one another in snowmobiles). Spec-Ops is more than the usual "battle against waves of enemies" but not quite a full, stand-alone story. Instead, it sits in a middle space that's surprisingly fun and engaging.
Though still a blast, the single-player campaign isn't the reason thousands of people still play the original MW on a daily basis. Create-a-class, new perks, and fresh customization options add an element seemingly more at home with a MMORPG than a console shooter. All the offerings from the first game have been expanded exponentially for the sequel -- you can now choose from over a dozen kill streaks th

GAME OF THE YEAR **MUST BUY**
Created: 10/11/09
The single player story for Modern Warfare 2 is absolutely stunning. Infinity Ward has kept true to their style of game development by once again making sure you never leave first person view. I enjoy cinematic scenes, but the level of intensity that you get throughout the campaign whilst always being in first person view is great. Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and picks up right where Call of Duty 4 left off. Modern Warfare 2 adds a lot more to the campaign than Infinity Ward’s last title, including graphics as well as unique missions that you should definitely experience for yourself. The graphics in Modern Warfare 2 are the best I have seen so far in a Call of Duty game while keeping it smooth with a constant 60 frames per second. The detail of the environments and the character models are beautiful. Some of the scenes throughout the campaign are really breathtaking as they are action packed, and keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. To add to that, there are many surprises and twists throughout the game that no one will see coming, making this story an amazing action packed thriller. Although the campaign is amazing, it was fairly brief, lasting around 6-8 hours depending on the difficulty. And speaking of difficulty, I would add that the game was a lot easier on Veteran than any of the other Call of Duty games.
Now for the good stuff; multiplayer. Multiplayer for Call of Duty 4 is mostly what made it so popular and in Modern Warfare 2 it gets even better. The addition of many killstreaks and having the ability to customize which ones you want ,with a max of 3 available at once, is where this game’s multiplayer action really differs from Call of Duty 4. Even in objective modes like Search and Destroy, you can gain killstreaks throughout the course of many rounds, granted you don’t die at the end of the round. And if you try using you stealth class from Call of Duty 4 or World at War in this game you might not be safe with the addition of Heartbeat sensors as an attachment to certain weapons which detect movement. Of course there is a perk to counter that though. Many perks from Call of Duty 4 have been made into attachments or equipment. There are many additions to the game that will really let you personalize your class to your liking, much more so than the previous Call of Duty games. I saw a lot of people running around with many different class setups instead of seeing everyone with the same 5 as in the other games. You can now unlock titles and emblems for yourself that show up in game. Modern Warfare 2 has added more modes as well. Here are the new additions to the game:
Demolition – Attack & Defend two bombsites (Similar to Sabotage with full re-spawns)
3rd Person Teams – Third Person Perspective with Team Deathmatch, Domination, CTF and Demoliton
Hardcore Ricochet Search and Destroy – Hardcore S&D where friendly fire will kill you
3rd Person Cage Match – 1v1 Deathmatch in Third Person
The added guns to the game are also cool, and the models for them are extremely detailed. With all the additions to multiplayer, it can take a little getting used to but is extremely fun.

Truly the Best First Person Shooter Ever
Created: 29/07/10
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been one of the most hyped games in the history of gaming, and it deserves it. It is the sequel of the best-selling first person shooter ever (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare). It also marks the return of developer Infinity Ward to the Call of Duty series. Infinity Ward made Call of Duty 1, 2, and 4 while Treyarch made Call of Duty 3 and World at War. As if that wasn't enough, Modern Warfare 2 also marks the return of the series to modern times.
Modern Warfare 2 is at the top of its class in everything. The graphics are simply amazing, the controls feel great, the campaign is good, the new Special Ops mode is fun, and online play is as good as ever. It truly is the best first person shooter ever.
In the campaign, you play as several characters, Pvt. Joseph Allen, Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson, Pvt. James Rameriez, and Captain "Soap" McTavish. The game sends you across the globe everywhere from Russia to the middle east to the USA. The plot is a little confusing, but its not bad, just not great. The campaign is fun, with several levels of difficulty and good level design. The game really does a good job of making you feel like you are actually there. However, the campaign is rather short, so it will not take you too long to beat it.
The new feature to the game is Special Ops, a series of challenges that vary in tactics and difficulty. Each level has three different stars to earn, one for each difficulty (Regular, Hardened, and Veteran.) The mode is sometimes frustrating, but it is fun. These "Spec Ops" missions give the game more replay value, and give you more hours of single-player entertainment.
The online is great too. With an roleplaying-level-up-type system, the game gives you tremendous amount of multiplayer value. The maps are challenging, but still fun. The list of weapons, attachments, and perks are expansive, taking you a long time to unlock them all, if you ever do. The online play is extremely entertaining and gives you tons of replay value. Another nice feature about the online gameplay is the kill/death streak system. If you get a certain number of kills without a death, or deaths without a kill you will get a reward. For an example, 3 kills without a death will get you a UAV, which shows you where enemies are on the map. You can choose your kill and death streak rewards, so the possibilities are endless.
All in all, Modern Warfare 2 is a great game. It holds its own against Call of Duty 4, and, in my opinion, it is the best first person shooter ever. This game is worth the $59.99 asking price, (which remains its price today), but I would reccomend waiting a couple of months until Call of Duty: Black Ops comes out to get it at a discount. However, I would still reccomend it for $59.99. If you like shooters this game is a must own.
