Great iron set !

I bought this after owning Callaway Big Bertha 2006 irons with graphite shafts. I tried several brands including Ping G10's and G15's but liked the Diablos better. I switched back to steel and after two rounds these go straighter and a little farther that the old set.

Best irons I've ever owned! - I have been fortunate to have worked in the industry, right next to the best equipment possible and these Callaway Diablo Edge irons are the BEST I've ever played!
Light weight but powerful design that optimizes the center of gravity for all playing levels, great looks and great feel from the 3-iron down to the LW.
I've played...everything! - Hogan Edge, Wilson Staff, Ping, Taylor Made DCI's, Nike, Jack Nicklaus, Prima, knockoffs (custom-designs), and Slotline...
I love the finish on these Callaway Diablo Edge irons, they clean up nice. My former custom-design set (my own design) allowed me to hit an 8-iron 175yds. I can hit my Edge 8-iron about 182...and without that heavy weighted feeling of my irons...
Easier swing means easier on my back and I'm gaining distance! The control will come with more play and for the first time in over ten years, I'm even more anxious to play more golf than I was before, thanks to these clubs!

Easy to hit high, far and straight.....from all lies!

OK, in fairness, I do play 2-3 times per week. I take a weekly lesson with a PGA pro, and I go to the range to practice 1-2 per week. That being said, I'm brand new to the game at 43yo, and I started playing July of 2010 (Midwest has a short season, so "a year and a half" really means 7 months of actual play time!)...SO, these Callaway Diablos are my second iron set. They do EXACTLY what they say they are gonna do: (super) improve your game. They are very easy to hit from all lies, and they get real 'heavy' at the bottom of the swing to give you great impact and distance. IF you actually hit down and compress the ball with these clubs, you'll get extreme distance, and you can also start to shape shots! I know! fade/slice on command???? draw it on command? Yes, these clubs will allow you to do that, but for sure you'll hit the ball high and straight. Easy to get up in the air. Yes, you can chunk it or top it too, but that's you my friend, not the clubs. The Uniflex shaft seems to be the right flex for me. I'm still learning, so I'm not sure, but my old (first) Taylor Made set were "Regular" shaft and they seemed to lag behind my swing a lot robbing me of distance...Callaway's "Uniflex" is somewhere between Regular and Stiff, they claim, and it seems to be okay for me. If I continue on this improvement path, the next improvement to these clubs would be Stiff. They have been great for me. By the way, I went from a 39+ HC index to a 25 HC index in a year. I work hard, but these clubs have definitely help, no doubt. Worth the investment.

I purchased the clubs as a replacement for my 40 year old ones.
The reviews I read suggested they were ideal for a weekend golfer.
The clubs look and feel great. They swing well and the weight is well distributed throughout. Certainly a substantial improvement over my old set.
As I am getting more practice I am starting to hit the ball well much more consistently than before. The sweet spot is larger than I am used to and therefore distance and accuracy is good for even slightly poor shots. You can still hit bad ones but perhaps less often.
The only down side I have discovered is they are a bit harder to clean given the design of the back of the club compared to the blade style clubs I had. Also the very high shine on the stainless on the clubface and sole scuff more easily.

I am a 17 handy cap. I hit my old 7 iron (knock off PINGS) 135-140 yards . The new 7 edge goes 160 yards. My 8 iron now hits 150 yards it's hard to get used to. My old 9 iron went 110-115 the new one 145. Now i'm having problems over shooting. I guess this is great news but it's hard to get used to and finding the right club is even harder. So far i've played 4 rounds plus once to the driving range. The edges are great i know i will get used to them but its hard to get your mind around using 1 or 2 less clubs. Even the sand wedge old one 50 yards new edge 90 yards. The clubs look and feel great but it will take time to figure out how far you hit them. ed
