Movie synopsis

Steven Spielberg produced this live-action feature starring the friendly ghost created in 1940 by Joe Orolio. In it, greedy heiress Carrigan Crittenden inherits the haunted Whipstaff Manor and discovers that the house contains a treasure, which is closely guarded by three nasty ghosts. She invites ghost therapist Dr. James Harvey, and his daughter Kat, to move into the eerie mansion and get rid of the supernatural creatures. The nephew of the three spirits is Casper, a friendly ghost who becomes Kat's pal. Casper takes Kat to his father's secret lab where he once attempted to bring Casper back to life with a special machine. Carrigan eavesdrops on their conversation and decides to become a ghost herself, in the hope that she will get the booty more easily. Then she can use the machine to change back to a human. However, Carrigan doesn't realize that you can't flirt with the afterlife.

this is a great family film, especialy if you have children under 12. The story and all of the fun that the film extends is so very entertaining, even for those of us who are grown. We all grew up reading casper comic books from harvey and watching the old cartoons on TV --- NOW you can see him come to stunning life in this fun filed romp!!

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Furious that her late father only willed her his gloomy-looking mansion rather than his millions, Carrigan Crittenden is ready to burn the place to the ground when she discovers a map to a treasure hidden in the house. But when she enters the rickety mansion to seek her claim, she is frightened away by a wicked wave of ghosts. Determined to get her hands on this hidden fortune, she hires afterlife therapist Dr. James Harvey to exorcise the ghosts from the mansion. Harvey and his daughter Kat move in, and soon Kat meets Casper, the ghost of a young boy who's "the friendliest ghost you know." But not so friendly are Casper's uncles--Stretch, Fatso and Stinkie who are determined to drive all "fleshies" away. Ultimately, it is up to Harvey and Kat to help the ghosts cross over to the other side. I've enjoyed this movie. It makes me laugh, cry, and excited. 'Casper' is recommended for any audience, regardless of age. Truly fantastic.

Fun family movie

I like that it's fun and entertaining. Something I feel a family can really enjoy together about friendship between a ghost and a fleshy. My girlfriend really enjoys this movie (my reason for buying it) and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. This one is the best out of all the casper movies (usually the first ones are).

You gotta love this movie in lots of ways. Very excellent special effects by far for making this a family, comedy and fantasy movie. Casper is cute. Very emotional too. Great movie for kids to watch.

Casper DVD 2003

Created: 13/01/08
A wonderful childrens movie the whole family can enjoy! I actually bought this copy for a movie night at the primary school. Everyone enjoyed it. It's not over the top scary so it's still good for young children. Caspers' uncles are a little gross but the younger kids found this to be very funny! For our small town this made the perfect Halloween hit! I would suggest this to anyone having a Halloween get together for small kids!
