Movie synopsis
Easy listening legend Barry Manilow stars in this 1982 musical, based on the famous song of the same name. COPACABANA fleshes out the story of beautiful showgirl Lola and young nightclub pianist Tony, who falls madly in love with her. Though she reciprocates his feelings, Lola must put her personal life on hold to become a huge star on the Havana nightclub circuit. This flashy romantic musical is truly a spectacle of glitz and glitter.

I must say that I was pleasantly suprised at Annette O'toole's singing!And she did it very well."Man wanted" was both delightful and amusing.Barry Manilow was...well,Barry Manilow.He sang,he danced,he made the movie worth watching.The songs performed on this dvd were original and written for the musical.Fans will find them different from Barry's early material,but will enjoy them none the less(I did).So, break out the popcorn,open a bottle of coke and gather the family 'round the t.v;at the copa...copacabana!!!enjoy!!

I am a huge fan of Barry Manilow. I was not expecting too much as far as acting ability but to my surprise I found his acting to be so endearing. I loved hearing the arrangements of some of his songs used as soundtracks put to a 1940's style. Just shows what a genius arranger he is. The story based on the Copacabana song is done well keeping in mind it was suppose to be like an old time musical. Annette O'Toole doing "Man Wanted" was awesome. Barry's love song "Who Needs to Dream?" is a favorite of mine. Barry wrote and arranged all the music. For a fan of Barry's this is a must see !

) If you are a Barry Manilow fan you will enjoy this made for TV movie that is in essence a video of his hugely popular 80's hit Cobacabana. Also making this movie enjoyable is his other music incorporated into the storyline such as when he writes the song "Who needs to Dream" for Lola. Also when he rearranges a tired old song "Man Wanted" for Lola. Her performance of the new arrangement is fun to watch. And if you ever wondered who shot Tony your question will be answered.

) If you always liked the song by Barry Manilow, you'll enjoy this made for tv movie. Follow the saga of Lola and Tony, just like the song. It's great!

The DVD is a must for Manilow fans!! It was just as great as I remembered it was the first time I saw it!
