Movie synopsis

The Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) and his new companion Amy Pond (Karan Gillan embark on a series of incredible adventures through time and space as the enduing British sci-fi series returns for a thrilling fifth series. Traveling in the TARDIS, The Doctor, Amy, and others face off against a formidable onslaught of foes including Cybermen, Daleks, Weeping Angels, Smilers, Sea Devils, The Entity, and the dreaded Vashta Nerada. Meanwhile, memorable encounters with such noted historical figures as Vincent van Gogh and Winston Churchill reveal just how different the present might have been without The Doctor and his companions to save the day., This Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series six-disc set is a collection of every episode of the BBC sci-fi hit in the fifth season. The series begins after the regeneration of the Eleventh Doctor when he discovers the TARDIS is about to crash. After the fall, the Doctor meets with Amy Pond and the two work together in an attempt to derail an alien plot to destroy Planet Earth. Directed by Adam Smith, Andrew Gunn, Jonny Campell, and Catherine Morshead, Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series was written by Steven Moffat and aired on the BBC network. This sci-fi show features an outstanding cast, some of which includes Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams. I love my Dr. Who Fifth Season Series! Matt Smith is a genius. Matt has taken the Dr. Who role and perfected it. I am impressed with the quality of the writing/acting in this series. I can't wait for season six to come out on dvd, I will buy it. If you are a fan of Dr. Who, you must buy this series. Steven Moffett (Lead writer in charge) is wonderful, and is an obvious huge fan of the Dr. Who world. He lives and breathes Dr. Who, and he puts his heart and soul into his stories. He is brilliant! The choice of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan (His human companion) is spot on, and they are perfect together. This series has extras on the last disc, and for the hardcore Whovians is not to be missed. They have some great behind the scenes stuff that I really enjoyed. In closing I will say ....buy this series now! You won't be sorry.

Same Story-New Doctor

Created: 13/01/11
The continuing saga of the Doctor, who has regenerated, with a NEW Face, and New Companion. I didn't know how this was gonna work with a non-english companion, but she has done quite well. Amy Pond is a great addition to the Doctor Who family. Matt Smith has one pretty good as the Doctor, though different from the last 2, who have played the role to its best possible outcome. I love watching this 5th Season, like all the rest and had to buy it to add to the Series Collection. If you like Doctor who, you'll love this continuing saga, with a few new faces and plot lines. Can;t wait for the 6 Season to start.

Classic BBC series Doctor Who remains strong with Matt Smith.

I caught the fifth series of Doctor Who on BBC America last year and was anxious to buy the whole set on DVD when it came out. The 13 stories themselves are for the most part outstanding, and Matt Smith is brilliant in his first season as the Doctor. Also, kudos go out to head writer Steven Moffat and cast regulars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. I felt I had to subtract one star from my review of this DVD collection because of the disappointing quality of disc five. The picture quality of the three stories on the disc ("The Lodger", "The Pandorica Opens", and "The Big Bang") was grainy and not at all what one would expect from an official BBC release. Other people I have spoken to have also experienced this same problem. I think BBC Video should replace these discs.

New Doctor, New Companion: It Doesn't Get Better...

Created: 10/01/11
David Tennant was my first Doctor, even though he was the 10th actor to play the role. Matt Smith has stepped into the Time Lord's shoes (sneakers?) beautifully. Karen Gillan as Amelia "Amy" Pond is as feisty as the last redhead to invade the TARDIS (Catherine Tate as Donna Noble). I have seen all the episodes, and like Russel T. Davies before him, Stephen Moffat has turned out a brilliant, overarching story arc. The only thing that would make my review complete is if I had seen the "Confidential" disc, which usually shows behind-the-scenes work on the series as a whole as well as indivdiual episodes.

FANTASTIC! (thats the best description)

Created: 27/11/10
A great collection of the fifth series. This represents a new invigorated vision of the Doctor, with alot more charm, wit, and intellectual plot twists then before. The series also shows a return to a show format and character profiles similar to the classic series.
In short its fantastic!
