Escort Passport 9500ix Blue Radar Detector

The Passport 9500ix provides the best available detection of radar while at the same time keeping false alerts to the utmost minimum. I typically get over one mile warning of radar on the freeways which allows me plenty of time to ensure I'm not exceeding the speed limit. No more panic braking one has to make when using a budget detector. This is serious hardware!

The excellent detection range is just partly what is so good about this detector. The GPS-enabled features are what really won me over. The 9500ix uses GPS and built-in logic to automatically block out false radar signals you come across during your daily route. You can also do this manually but this normally isn't necessary. Of course, the built-in database of known traffic cameras and such will warn you when you approach a camera, but you can also manually mark speadtraps that you are aware of so you won't inadvertantly pass one by without noticing. And keeping the database up to date is easy!

You can easily read on the internet what this detector is capable of so the point I want to make is that it works as advertised. No complaints, no issues! I've had many top of the line detectors over the years but the latest is the greatest!

Accurate, with false alarms a thing of the past. Escort has incorporated GPS with this unit and as you pass false alarm points, you can lock them out and avoid the annoyance in the future. I was a little disappointed that the body of the unit was plastic, rather than aluminum like my Bel STI-Driver. Interesting because Bel and Escort are now the same company. The Bel comes with a powered speaker and hard wire kit and costs less. The 9500ix comes in a cheaper case, and no hardwire kit ($29.00) extra cost. From a performance standpoint, so far, so good. We’ll see how the traffic camera alerts work around NYC and Queens. It is however, among the very best you can buy. Instant on Ka Band and Laser (Lidar) is really not a help from any unit. If you are the first car, or alone on the road, you’re dead. Only for Laser Jamming can you legally purchase the Laser Park Pro. This is truly the only defense against Laser. It’s the only unit that works. K40-NO, and The Escort Jammer, NO! Do you homework, or go to Jail.

This is the Top of the Line in radar detectors. Pricey BUT well worth the money for the protection it provides. I have owned other so-called top of the line detectors and NONE of the even come close to this one.

2) Lets you know if there are traffic cameras, speed cameras in the area and memorizes the locations

5) Easy to use. Plug it in, turn it on and go

CONS:
1) Expensive, compared to other less effective detectors on the market

I did a lot of research on radar detectors and this one was one of the best-reviewed ones. Since I purchased the radar detector, I have driven over 4000 miles in a month. It has warned me about police doing traffic enforcement almost every time. The one time it did not work as well, I was driving around 2 AM near ELKO, Nevada when the radar detector went off advising LASER. By the time I eased off the gas and applied the brake, the Nevada Highway Patrol car had already turned on its overhead lights and was waiting for me to pass him. Besides that, every RADAR warning worked like a charm. Especially when traveling in California where California Highway Patrol (CHP) like to sit on the onramp to freeways. On one occasion the Ka BAND went off and for the next 3/4 of a mile I could not see and CHP cars. I started to think that he was sitting on the onramp and as soon as we passed the onramp, he was right there, pulling over the car coming up on my six. Anytime the radar advised Ka band it has been a police officer. I got one advisement on K band from an Idaho State Trooper, and X band can be anything so far (doors, radar trailers, ect). I also love the feature of three activations in the same GPS area and the radar stores it as a false positive and will not alert again.

The Escort 9500ix is cutting edge technology. Speeding tickets are going up in IL. and the State will not do with less money so I don't want it coming out of my pocket. Chances are: more cops giving out tickets, more speed traps, and construction safety cameras taking your picture with a ticket speedily delivered to your door (currently a 375.00 ticket and going up). This radar detector is everything you want in a radar, laser,and safety camera detector because of the new GPS technology associated with this model. Have confidence in being alerted before the next speed trap. The Escort 9500ix Radar Detector cancels out false alarms and actually tells you your speed at the time of alert, so you then know if, if not to worry about being pulled over. Don't chance getting pulled over with a hefty ticket in hand and not to mention your car insurance rate going up. So if this radar detector saves you once, it has more than paid for itself.
