    rom com with a twist

    Created: 31/01/09
A romantic comedy predicated on the idea that happiness and love only exist if men, who otherwise are lying slime, quit lying.

No part of it deals with the concept that 100% telling of the truth might be as bad as lying 100% of the time, or that even men who supposedly lie all the time might not really be lying 100% of the time.

Add to that the "women always tell the truth" concept, even though they are shown to be lying in the movie, and you have a very twisted basis for a romantic comedy. The fact it is carried off, implausible and impossible aside, and that they manage to do so while staying more or less PG or PG-13, that is interesting.

The English subtitles are good, and it is well delivered-- and has one interesting quirk that is showing up in both Chinese and Korean movie and TV work-- that characters use English words, or English phrases, or speak English, and it is assumed to be normal, perhaps mentioned, perhaps not, and the English spoken is subtitled in English, too.

Interesting, quirky, and worth the time.
